There’s a line in the book where Ponyboy talks about how Greasers not only tend to have a slouchy posture but they almost all are lean. None of them get a lot to eat, considering their teen boys and the hunger of that age is never ending I can imagine it to be on another level.

They’re lean, slouchy and tough looking. There’s some muscle there but never quite the defined way one would imagine- apart from maybe Darry.

There’s a great pride when it comes to appearance for Greasers and while they may not have the health and the wealth there’s still something to say about that. Jackets, boots or sneaker, hair especially being a point of pride. It’s a signal in a similar way a soc might flaunt brand names— I feel for greasers it’s more clothes/hair where as a soc it’s more the face. Physical appearance.
