The Bronx’s Parks: Havens for Hiking, Outdoor Sports, and History
By Deb Miller, Lic. R. E. Salesperson and Ariela Heilman, Lic. Assoc. R. E. Broker of our Harlem office
Over a quarter of the Bronx is dedicated to green spaces and parks. Who knew? Perhaps more than any other borough, these wonderful parks, open spaces, rivers, and streams are dedicated to the enjoyment of Bronx residents and to ever-growing groups of visitors. Below are just three of our favorite public parks.
These are surprisingly lush, open spaces and are easily accessible to everyone who wants to experience them. Enjoy a brisk fall hike, play tennis, run a 5K, or play in a bocce ball tournament. It’s all for you in the Bronx!

Update Re: Facebook
Today, as I type this “post”, please know that this site is no longer posting to Facebook and will no longer be associated with that “page”/site. It came to my attention over the course of time that there is a policy of Facebook to unilaterally censor information it/they find contradictory to Facebook “policy”, primarily those voices of the more politically “conservative”. Now, whether or not I…

Lost and Found
Over the years, as I rummage through boxes, bags, back-packs and the likes, like old memories that suddenly, and for no apparent reason come striking back at us, pieces of work, pieces of the past are discovered and as if n a dream, are discovered. Today, as I went in search of something else, never thinking of sketches or other pieces of art-work, 4 old sketches done on the great shores of the…

“I had to leave Venezuela. I’ve lived there my entire life. My parents are buried there. But five months ago I had to leave. It just got too dangerous. One day I was attacked while walking home from the supermarket, and I woke up on the ground. I’ve had guns pulled on me several times. I just couldn’t do it anymore. I’m trying to start a new life but it’s impossible to find a job. I’ve applied to about sixty shops so far but nobody will give me a chance. They think I’m too old. I tell them to try me for just a few days, but they won’t. I did find one part time job cleaning toilets and picking up trash. These are things I’ve never done in my life. But right now I can’t afford to be picky.” (Santiago, Chile)

Quote
A long time ago I learned not to explain things to people. It misleads them into thinking they’re entitled to know everything I do.
