China's new unilateral visa-free travel to nine countries accounted for more than 30% of inbound travel orders
In order to further facilitate Chinese and foreign personnel exchanges, China has decided to expand the scope of visa-free countries, and from November 30, 2024 to December 31, 2025, China will offer visa-free access to ordinary passport holders from Bulgaria, Romania, Croatia, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Malta, Estonia, Latvia and Japan on a trial basis.

Data show that since the beginning of this year, orders from Chinese tourists to Japan have increased by more than 160% year-on-year, and Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya and Fukuoka are popular destinations for Chinese tourists. Japanese tourist orders into China also increased by 140% year-on-year, except for first-tier cities such as Beijing, Guangzhou and Shenzhen, Dalian, Hangzhou, Chengdu and Qingdao are also popular domestic destinations for Japanese tourists.
144-hour transit visa-free and unilateral visa-free policies are important driving forces for the growth of China's inbound tourism.
