Reddit
One of the biggest social media platforms today is Reddit. Reddit is an American social media with a great hold on the public as over 430 million people seek memes, communities and information from Reddit. The site is easy to use and navigate to where you want to go allowing people to post memes and write about what they are passionate about. Alongside the reward system which allows people to feel in a community with strangers, celebrities and influences. However, this also attracts and gives voice to people who are racist, sexist and controversial bringing them into a community that also sees the same viewpoints as them.
Memes on Reddit
One of the main reasons people use Reddit is for the funny and relatable memes on many different topics from politics to celebrities, these can be found on communities such as r/memes which has over 28 million people joining it. People make memes on Reddit to share comedic images and jokes, while on other platforms in the past you have been able to do this as well none of them allowed you to share your opinions on them and add to them the way, Reddit which has mad Reddit one of if not the biggest platforms for memes with millions of people posting memes every day. However, many memes posted on Reddit have negative connotations and are often forms of dark humour or are outright crude.

The Community on Reddit
The biggest feature of Reddit is communities where you can share memes, post and talk to other people with similar interests as you. People like to feel like they are a part of something bigger and connected to a larger group of people, this feature allows you to do this, and because of this millions of people join different communities. Manny celebrities and influences use Reddit to talk with their flowers and fans as they can interact with them on Reddit which makes it one of the only platforms where you can do this. While this is a great way to feel connected to others and famous people it also means that when people don’t fit into your community there is a greater likelihood of them being bullied and harassed because they aren’t like the rest of the community

The reward system
Reddit has a unique reward system where when you post something others can upvote it and downvote it or choose to spend real money on Reddit coins which allows users to spend them on custom medals such as silver, gold and platinum to the post. This makes the person who posted the post feel rewarded for their contribution to the community. However, if you don’t get an award for your post people feel like their post wasn’t good enough or they don’t fit in
Conclusion
Reddit is a new social media platform that has many features that are good and helpful however these features can be exploited and used to hurt and harm people. Reddit should only be used for memes in my opinion and shouldn’t be taken too seriously as you might hurt.
