For a moment, Karen was stunned by Lucian's words. She gave him a soft laugh, taken back by his overwhelming approval. "Careful with what you say, bookworm. It almost sounds as if you're giving me your blessing to be at your brother's side."

“While I would not doubt your words, I feel it is only fair to add that Will is notorious for getting himself into his own fair share of trouble, and dragging along everyone else.” Will was an agent of chaos and loved every minute of it.

“Well, Will is no saint, either. However, it is clear to me that your friendship is good for you both, so who am I to interfere? He is old enough to form his own bonds.” Not to mention he appreciated having someone else look out for him when Lucian couldn’t be there. “You two compliment each other well, and he is quite happy to have you. That’s all I need.”

"You have a valid point." She tapped her lips with a thoughtful hum before a devious grin crept over her lips. "If traffic here is going to be slow, what are your thoughts on playing hookie and doing something worth our time?" There was a dark twinkle in her eyes that gave way that she had a devious idea in mind.

"A little of both," he said with a small shrug. While he enjoyed his position, having worked hard for years to rise to this level, he had started to spiral into boredom.

"I do hope you're right. Not to mention that there a slew of holidays coming up, which delays things further.

I suppose we could battle one another again, but is there a point when all of us have memorized everyone's strategies?"

"We could also go extremely traditional and get you fitted for a kimono dress. You would be able to decide what sort of design you want on it too."
