I'm back. Here's somethin' for ya.
I stole a room at the Wood Theater for an afternoon to practice. It was fantastic. Children of a Lesser god was loading in, I would go down periodically and dance and sing with Jenny in her office, then scoot out into the alley for a cigarette and be able to smell the lilacs from the park. Because of the play, most of my bar set has gotten a little dusty this past month or so...This afternoon we got reacquainted. :-)
My cover of Rasputina's cover of Lesley gore's 'You Don't Own Me'.

This makes my heart hurt for the old days.
I'd walk home with $100 from three hours of chilly cello playing in the Metro...I'd put some of it away for rent, metro fare and food, and spend the rest on drugs- probably some speed, maybe some K and Molly and of course, a two litre bottle of Notre Vin Maison and a pack of Belmonts.
Those were the days.

Like Buttah
Did you ever feel like you're spreading your butter too thin? This is something that I feel almost all the time...I have so many different interests and skill sets in many different areas, and I'm very passionate about creation so I find myself saying Yes to everything.
Honestly, saying Yes too much is a good problem to have. It's brought me to some of the most enriching and creative experiences of my life. Burlesque, Rock Music, Viola da gamba, Acting School, Drag....
I wonder though, what it would be like if made myself focus on only one project for a specific period of time. A day. A week. A month....whatever, but only one project.
I bet that project would kick some serious ass. I bet I could even finally write some MOTHERFUCKIN LYRICS TO A MOTHERFUCKIN ORIgINAL SONg.
my g key is broken, by the way.

Another video from show at Rockhill this past summer. This is a cover of Jefferson Airplane's song 'White Rabbit' back when I first started covering it. I didn't quite realize how much I beat the living shit out of my cello playing it.
I guess subtlety isn't my forte.
BAD DUM CH!
...but seriously it's time to record this again.

This is a video from the end of summer last year- my very first solo show in glens falls, at Rockhill Bakehouse. It's a cover of 'Cosmic Love' by Florence and the Machine that my friend Paul Hake and I put together. Enjoy!

These past months have been some of the happiest and busiest of my life. Rehearsal, performance, rehearsal, performance. Here are a few highlights from my New Year's Eve show at Wallabee's (one with my good friend Daniel Ryan Norton), my January show at Rockhill.

Alexis Pope - The Popophone, protoype, 2012
From the Verspielte Maschinen - Neue Musik für Musikautomaten 2012 exhibition at München’s Deutsches Museum. In addition to a collection of mechanical instruments, the exhibition included a series of performances of works by Martin Riches, Peter Ablinger or Iannis Xenakis, among others [thanks Goran for this one].

Nothing's perfect. Especially when battling the flu. Nevertheless, thank you to @Anthony Jancek for the recording of my performance last Wednesday at Caffe Lena in Saratoga Springs. Hopefully it's the first of many!

Another video from my visit to Caffe Lena's Open Mic last Wednesday. My version of 'Bewitched' and 'My Funny Valentine'. Listen to my immune system battle influenza, hear my fantastic nasal congestion, and witness my complete physical exhaustion. \ Another big thanks to @Anthony Jancek for the video!

I've always wanted to to this at Rockhill! The continuo part is amazing.
