Asking because you said you like educating/don’t mind answering questions etc. Obviously ignore if you don’t want to answer. But I’m curious if your realisation you were not a man came at the same time as you realising you weren’t attracted to men and were attracted to women? Or if you just happened to come out publicly with both at the same time? It’s difficult for me to imagine questioning either my gender or sexuality, and especially both at the same time. I have had a very binary trans experience. I can’t imagine the strength it takes to re-come out. I know a lot of people online are giving you grief but I hope everyone who matters to you was cool with it.
Hi! I totally don’t mind this question, thank you for asking!
I had been back and forth with my identity for a long time, since early high school to be exact (I’m 23 now). I have gone through many labels in my life and none of them felt right. My first relationship was a lesbian relationship in high school but I started to question my gender identity and knew I wanted to be masculine, but at the time I equated masculinity to being a man. So I came out as a trans man. After a while, that stopped feeling right too, I realized I have nothing in common with men besides just looking like one. I didn’t share the same experiences, I grew up in girlhood and didn’t know what it meant to be a man. I also realized I have never been attracted to cis men/dated any. After many conversations with my lesbian and butch friends, I came to terms with the fact that I am a butch. I think what held me back the most was the fact that I’m on testosterone and had top surgery, but there are plenty of butches out there on hormones and had surgery as well! It made it much easier to grasp that I am one too. So to answer your question, I don’t know if the two happened at the same time or if it’s just always been like this for me that finally putting my foot down and saying “this is me” solidified it. But I always say that people do change their minds, I could change mine again too, that’s perfectly fine!
Everyone in my life who I came out too was not surprised in the slightest, my close friends kinda saw this coming and were just patiently waiting for me to figure it out in my own time. They’ve all been very supportive of me. The only issues I’ve had is with random strangers on the internet who tell me to get out of lesbian spaces and I’m not welcome here. But they don’t know me and therefore have no place to speak on where I’m valid or not.
