Coffee table books take up a lot of space for a book no-one is ever going to read. I also assume authors have slowly lost faith in the book they're writing when it gets labelled a coffee table book.

Your book shouldn't have the same literary merit as a Vogue Picture book.

It must be the benefit of living in an echoey cave with loud orcs and goblins running around while you're fishing.

really underrated part of the LotR films is when gollum gets exposition lines. like can you imagine? you're travelling with the most fucked-up evil little murder greyhound creature imaginable and he lives in a cave and doesn't know about potatoes but from time to time you have to ask him about local geopolitics. and he answers you

There should be a compatibility flowchart anywhere that sells houseplants. It would save a lot of dejection every time you try a new species.

Do you water plants neurotically every day? Try a fern. You can spritz it every time you walk past.

Do you forget to water plants for ages? Try a Jade plant. It loves air and is unsure if it likes water.

Still unsure if any of these are you? Get a Snake Plant. It will outlive you in a cupboard or on a window sill. Pair it with a Spider Plant to truly feel like the weakest thing in your home.

Agree with all of this. It's genuinely a suspenseful young adult novel. It's a series willing to disappoint you to produce sincere concern for the safety of the characters and avoid plot armour.

Just finished listening to the Scholomance series audiobooks yet again and I simply cannot express how fucking perfect these books are please read them they are criminally underrated!!!!

You get:

angry character who grudgingly does good/nice things while complaining the entire time because they were raised in a fucking yurt in a commune in Wales

a sunshine character who just has no idea what is happening but they're sooo happy to be here

a sentient school that may or may not be trying to kill some of the students

the narrator matter-of-factly and often snarkily telling you lore as if you should already know it, which makes the already extremely good lore drops even better

bonus: a really cool magic system!

Plus the way the plot all comes together and the characters grow together is just so fucking chefs kiss like I NEED y'all to read this series I BEG

Mindful moment in the woods. Nothing quite like being still in the woods and just breathing. Take a moment and let everything else drift away.

I always love a waterfall. They seem so full of life and a reminder that even when everything seems still and calm, life is buzzing around silently and out of sight.

There's a certain kind of quiet in nature that you can't seek out. You have to already be in nature and it drops in like an invisible fog.

It's similar to the feeling of playing hide and seek as a kid but without the sudden urge to urinate
