I totally agree. I based a lot of how I write Moynihan just on that one line. It could either mean she left because she decided she loved and valued humanity more than her connection to him. Or she fell in love with humanity and what they became, but she knew how much he hated humans and how dangerous he might be, but still left him alive because she loved him. Although, I don't think they ever would want to kill each other. Partly because they would be alone then. They're like the Doctor and the Master. I think their relationship is very complicated.

That actually makes a lot of sense. He's going to have a way easier time using his DNA than whatever scraps he can scrounge up from fossils. Could also be why he's so obsessed with the Squad. It also implies that Moynihan knows something about how to stabilize the process. The plot hole I get is Buzz being a Pterosaur and Caruso and Rodger being a whole taxonomy-thing-I-can't-remember over from theropods. But we can explain that with whatever bits of DNA from fossils or more of Ms Moynihan's possible involvement/(manipulation?)

from a doylist standpoint the reason all the mutantsaurs have very theropod-y features like sharp teeth is ro make them look more menacing and dangerous to the audience

but from a watsonian standpoint well. veloci has to be getting the dinosaur DNA from somewhere so he's probably using his own as a baseline and trying to reverse engineer all other dinosaur clades from that, and so that's why they all look very raptor-y to a certain degree

This. I haven't checked when you made this post but I just found it as I'm looking for posts to populate this new blog, but this concept is the primary inspiration for my Dino Squad/Jurassic World crossover. Moynihan and Veloci are the true main characters in between the chaos of the action and the kids and in the end, they are just a pair of two old souls with the pain of immortality who just broke apart in their aloneness. The crossover idea sounds a little silly, but I'm taking their characters probably way more seriously than the show creators expected.

i just think the characters of moynihan and veloci could be very very interesting if done right.

she fell in love with humans and society and love itself, platonic or romantic or otherwise. however; however, she does not age, not at a human pace, she has been alive since the dawn of humanity’s existence, and has followed its progress since. She must have lived seeing human lifetimes beyond number. But still she grows fond of and gets to know everyone she meets. She exemplifies the sort of support she loves about humanity.

She looks at humans, and she sees everything they built anew, and called it beautiful.

He couldn’t abandon the way the world used to be. He watched as everything his kind built and used and lived for was covered over by humans and their history. And he couldn’t do anything about it; if he spoke up as one of them, he would be disregarded. If he tried to explain what he once was and whose old nesting grounds they were building over, he would be called insane. He had to lie in wait and stew for thousands of years until he found a point in humanity he could abuse. Genetic research. He carried pieces of the old world, amber-preserved claws and toes and hearts and bones and now they could bring back the dinosaurs. Even better; he can eliminate humans and create dinosaurs in the same motion.

He looks at humans and sees them as the embodiment of his loss. He calls their prosperity betrayal.

But they were the same, once. Two terrified raptors, clinging to each other in the one place on earth that could save them. Two terrified newly-humans, trying to find a niche among the humans proper. And then they split.

The one person in the world who could understand how you feel, and they don’t, and it fractures you apart. Moynihan has all of humanity to console her, to bring her peace, even if they don’t know it. Veloci has nothing but his schemes and the replaceable pawns he sets to carry them out.
