Nancy is surprised, and kinda confused, because when she tells Robin she’s actually a vampire Robin is just… so chill about it? She’s just like “Oh! That’s cool.” And immediately leaves the room.

And Nancy’s at the point that she’s staring at Robin while they’re supposed to be studying and she’s actually thinking ‘Did she— Did she not understand what I was saying? I… I told her— didn’t I?? Did I make that up??’ and is just completely dumbfounded. But anytime Nancy tries to bring it up to gauge whether she understood, Robin just laughs and changes the subject.

Meanwhile, Robin has forced herself to block out all thoughts of Nancy’s vampirism purely because it will actually put her at risk of a stroke if she allows herself to imagine Nancy as Carmilla and herself as Laura. Again.

the fact that when nancy is in trouble while shes with jon the car never starts and they end up caught or unable to escape (s2 at the park s3 at the mall and on some level the fight with steve in s1)

but when its her and robin they repeatedly dodge obstacles and when they sprint to the car as a desprate escape from penhurst the car starts on the second try and they drive away

it looks for a second like its going to be lile every other time, the car wont start, but then it does and they escape and theyre safe and they get to protect max for another day

I don’t use the term queerbait lightly because of how heavy it is. And I don’t like how it is thrown around sometimes. However with how Wednesday is being marketed and what we have heard/seen we are either being queerbaited or having one of the greatest slow burn love stories ever.

There is not a question whether they know what they’re doing or not. Of course they do. They know the impact Wenclair has and how much of their audience supports it. It’s their job to know. And it’s their job to bring in as many people as they can. And if that means supporting/using wenclair they have a choice between queerbaiting and not queerbaiting depending on the plan for the show.

I think a lot of the time queer coding and queerbaiting get mixed up. Implications and implied queerness leading up to that moment can be beautiful and wonderful. Personally I really love slow burns and implications can be a big part of that build up.

We are all so traumatized by media (rightfully so) and how we are used when views are wanted that our immediate thought is “oh we’re being baited” because it does happen. But it could be queer coding and we’re just far too early to tell. Season two isn’t even out yet. And if you think about it the only way for Wenclair to work (in my opinion) is a slow burn. And sometimes slow burns can make you feel like you’re being queerbaited. It’s one of the worst waiting games till something is confirmed or the show ends.

Like I said at the start, we’re either being queerbaited or it’s going to happen. Before the marketing I honestly would have said we weren’t being queerbaited, but the more stuff they do the more I believe we are. Which I think is really sad. I don’t need wenclair to be happy. I wanted to watch the show before anybody knew about wenclair. It’s Netflix. I don’t have hope. I have never had hope but if it is queerbait I am so unbelievably tired or queer relationships being used for views. Especially when the shows we do have, with canon wlw couples, get canceled after one season by Netflix.

Anyways— this is mostly a rant of my thoughts and my bubbling frustrations. Don’t even get me started on Netflix overall because I have WORDS to say about them.
