Sirius had mate it to the outskirts of the party after nicking a bottle of Firewhisky from one of the tables. He kept walking, fast, making his way over to a spot on the shore of the black lake. Once there, he sat down up against a tree and opened the bottle, taking a large swig from it. He was angry. Angry at himself, and at pretty much everyone else, though he didn’t exactly know why. Maybe he was pissed about the whole situation? He pulled a pack of cigarettes out of his jacket, both of which he’d found in his room at the Potter’s when he’d woken up there. He was about to light his smoke when he heard someone approaching. He groaned, annoyed at his isolation being interrupted. “

What do you want ?” he asked, not bothering to turn around and see who it was.

      he’d watch him escape from the party, eyes trained on the frantic young boy as he moved almost desperately towards the black lake. james could almost smile. at least something was the same. sirius, angry as ever when things didn’t go his way. he thought about letting him have his peace, about leaving him alone and pretending his absence didn’t bother him. but it did. he was bothered. worried for the boy he had hardly spoken to in his own home ( their home? ) over the last few weeks. releasing a soft sigh, james stuffed his hands into his pockets, head down as he followed his best friend to the outskirts of the fun. ❛ s’just me, mate, ❜ he replied. the words felt awkward, disjointed on his tongue, like he was forcing the nickname ( and maybe he was ). ❛ everything alright? ❜

MEADOWES, d.

Whoever pulled off this party really knew how to get a crowd and even though Dorcas wasn’t the fondest of parties like this – she didn’t mind it today. Was she partaking in getting wasted? Absolutely not. But as a prefect and as someone who did want to socialize a bit with her peers, she went to be more of a chaperone of sorts. “Hi, HELLO, do you know where the water is?”

      james jumped at the sound of her voice, not having noticed her when she’d crept up beside him. his shoulders only marginally relaxed at the sight of dorcas meadowes --- he knew her but he didn’t know her. just as he didn’t know anyone around here anymore. ❛ i think it’s over there, ❜ he replied, pointing rather aimlessly in the direction of the forest. ❛ ‘suppose i should know more, huh? aren’t i meant to be some kind of dad chaperone at these things now? ❜
