Ahoy! Here am I again with another illust I did for the @dragonprinceanthology Echoes of Thunder! 

This is an interesting piece to talk about. I first envisioned it as a family portrait, that was later ‘evolved’ as the whole scene of it being made. During it’s production I also tested out a few tweaks - that wouldn’t work well thanks to the book gutter - but that I eventually added as a fun little extra on the process gif you can see here

The family portrait does still exist, though -and not unfinished as you see here! I’ll make another post for it later, as it’s not in the book.

I recently re-read Tokyo Mew Mew for nostalgic reasons and was reminded of how ardently I shipped Mint/Zakuro, haha. It’s basically canon? Yeah. I was inspired to draw this because of this song, which seems kind of fitting due to Mint being a bird? Eh? E-eh?

I used a photo from SenshiStock as a reference and some random outfits I found on Polyvore because designing costumes is hard. Here’s a little detail shot because I like how their faces came out, though you can click through on the picture above to see it in a larger size too:
