this is such a silly thing but I see the tide pod memes are on the rise and I just want to shout into the void that I read a study about people eating these things, mostly adults with dementia. before this progresses to people jokingly biting into them please be aware that the substance inside is so deeply caustic that it can damage your esophagus after one bite to such an extent that it causes necrosis and you die. please do not, as a joke, bite the pods.

Tried and true IWA Tradition that goes back even longer than the yearly going out of business DVD Sale.

I could be wrong but I think the first memory I have of this was Ian dropping the IWA title to Cash Flo without telling him he was going over. When Ian held him on top of him and the three count happened, Cash thought he was a dead man for screwing up the finish.

Then it became a way to get genuine reactions out of guys and was used several times including this one.

“Claudio will work your leg,” [promoter] Ian Rotten said, “Claudio will go for his Ricola Bomb, you slide through, pop him, hit him with your finish. Cradle him up real tight—one—two—Claudio will kick out,” and then he’s like “Go for something else, and then Claudio will finish it with the Ricola Bomb.” So in my mind, Claudio’s going over, I’m going to give that false sense that I might win to the people, ‘cause I was the underdog.  Obviously.   

Drake Younger remembers the time Claudio Castagnoli (not yet WWE superstar Cesaro, but definitely already an angel on earth) tricked him into winning a tournament for the IWA Mid-South.

The One From The Week of 11/18/2001

We talk about the Friends episode that week entitled “The One With The Rumor” where Brad Pitt guest stars as an old schoolmate that liked Ross & Monica but hated Rachel’s guts.

It was the week of WWF’s 2001 Survivor Series where it was the WWF vs. WCW/ECW to decide which company would survive and which one would die. RAW and Smackdown dealt with the fallout as Vince McMahon made William Regal literally kiss his ass so Regal could keep his job.

IWA Mid-South had Bloodfeast 2001 With CM Punk vs. Colt Cabana in a 30 minute Iron Man Match and Mean Mitch Page/Too Tuff Tony vs. Mad Man Pondo/Spyder Nate Webb. They also had Eyes Wide Open that weekend where Holly Wood and Paige (not that one) had a bubble bath match with lots of nudity.

Episode 2 of Seinfeld, Friends & Wrestling

We talk the episode of Friends entitled “The One With The Birthing Video.” Rachel is pregnant with Ross’ baby and wants to know what to expect during child birth. She asks to borrow a video of Phoebe’s friend giving birth. Joey is in love with Rachel but doesn’t know what to do and finally tells Ross. It’s one of our favorite episodes as it shows a side of Joey viewers never got to see before.

We then discussed the WWE as they teased the return of the nWo at the No Way Out 2002 PPV. They also teased marital problems between HHH and Stephanie McMahon.

Lastly, we watched the 55 min TLC match between CM Punk and Chris Hero from IWA Mid-South. We talked about the match and our IWA memories from that building and my rant was about losing the Charlestown building.
