this will be a somewhat personal kind of post but this always makes me sad - though I cannot relate to losing a parent so young due to death, I can relate to losing a father in different ways and feeling exactly like this.

If I just change a few words it could be put like this:

"There's nothing to tell, they left when I was a young child. As a girl, my bond with my mother was too deep to miss the father I never had."

"Now, well - I'd be lying if I said I'd never thought about my father. What life would've been if he was around"

Like i said, I can never ever relate to parent deaths nor could I ever claim that I know exactly what it feels like to lose a parent in that particular way, but losing a parent due to mental illness/drugs can feel just a little smidge like this, at least from my perspective.
