never ever have i heard of a fan having a bad interaction with este. quite the opposite, actually: many praise how he by far takes the most time and tries to really sign everything and take pictures with everyone. this kindness even turned people into fans of him.
he climbs over fences to make it easier for both fans and himself to sign and take pics. he asks his pr during a waiting time if he can go over to the fans. he remembers his avid fans by name and is always happy to see them. one fan said he exuded such calm that everyone was calm too.
este has said it is based on an own bad experience with someone he was a fan of as a kid. that bad interaction fueled him to always take time and appreciate fans. even if he had an awful quali or race, he is always kind.
that kindness is a huge part why i like him so much. i remember back in 2020 he preferred the term supporters over fans. it seemed like he felt odd having fans in the first place. he is used to being ignored or hated on, yet he stayed kind.
yet he always stayed fucking kind.

honestly very insane to me that people expected the driver who had raced in midfield cars since he began in f1 and got a race winning car only this season to immediately know all about fighting at the front and to challenge for a wdc. hell, as a fan, i only wanted that first win this season, i didn't even dream about a championship fight.
the fact that lando came so close shows his talent. it's been brilliant to see him improve and get better and better at fighting at the front. yes he's made mistakes, but i know that he will sort those out and come back stronger next year.

What's killing me is how Esteban has stayed so dead silent about the issues he and Pierre had in the past and was clearly the one working harder to 'move on and forget' than Pierre was, but even he couldn't fool himself in the end.
He ended up being the one to yank Pierre close and pull him in for the hug. He opened his arms up to Pierre two more times after that. And during that interview where they call Pierre over to him, he opens his arm again and warmly invites Pierre into his hold. When they clasped hands on the podium, he took Pierre's hand into BOTH of his and held it tight.
He was always so closed and so guarded about anything regarding Pierre, but yesterday? His arms and his heart were wide open and ready to accept Pierre in any form or fashion. He initiated most of it. And that really was profound for me!!

Guys, the Lando hate is not it! The comments made towards him are so disgusting. To me, that鈥檚 not being a true fan of the sport! He may not be your favourite driver but don鈥檛 think for one second that your favourite driver would condone any of this behaviour!
Have we not learned anything? Words hurt and are more powerful than you think. Drivers are just like us, human beings. People (not just drivers) deserve to be treated with respect, end of.
Think before you write hateful shit on the internet.
