Hello! My name is Jennifer aka @jennifersara7. I was born & raised in NY, work in the social media industry and am strongly influenced by my feelings when listening to music. NYC is thriving with a constant stream of events, allowing me to keep up with my interests and social life, most times at a reasonable price or if I'm lucky, free! Sharing my experiences (and the random new music I stumble upon) is part of the fun so I hope you enjoy!

The bodega snack debate: You're starving, it's 3pm on a work day and you need something to eat. There are no supermarkets within the radius of what's acceptable for a work break so you're forced to go to a bodega. Bodega's have limited options and most have identical inventory. You scan the aisles in hopes that this bodega has a sugar-free chocolate bar coated in bread that for some reason is only 25 calories. But no, that's not here.. so what will I get? My dad would immediately go for the almonds or possibly dark chocolate or Good & Plenty and on a good day an apple. I'm over almonds and need to explore further. Can I justify the sugar snap chips because they are vegetables, no. Should I have a cheese stick  Nah, that won't fill me. This debate goes on and on in circles and I realize my time limit is up and I must choose one. Greek Yogurt! That's it. I won't feel guilty, it tastes great and so many flavor options. If you ever find yourself in this kind of debacle here are my list of good, healthy choices: almonds, dark chocolate, fruit, a an energy bar, greek no fat yogurt and if you're lucky and the bodoga sells vegetables  choose a veggie!

"Don't Move" by Phantogram
"Many bedroom producers adopt a "more is more" approach and stuff a track full of as many sounds as possible without any apparent editorial process, but Phantogram has enough good taste to piece together an array of sounds into an arrangement that makes sense. The duo has been playing to this strength more with each successive release, and it seems likely to help Phantogram endure: The band isn't trying to reinvent the wheel, just searching for new ways to make it spin smoothly." "Dead Hearts" by Stars
The lyrics to "Dead Hearts" help to explain the end of the movie Like Crazy. I ended up staying in the theater until the song finished reflecting on what had happened. I love when a movie does that to you.
"Tell me everything that happened,
Tell me everything you saw.
They had lights inside their eyes..."
"They were kids that I once knew."

"Take Care" by Florence + The Machine
The Drake/Rihanna version was already playing on repeat (RIP iPod ;-( ) so this Florence rendition comes at the perfect time! Spotify needs to be better at getting random tracks like this one in their library. Thank you SoundCloud!

"Keep It Rollin" by Y LUV
"This track starts melodramatically with celestial echoes and ascends to a fist pumping chorus. Y LUV has the psychedelic quality of U2 and the bullish rock flow of Foster The People. There is also a hint of shoegaze in this wonderful concoction." Earmilk.com

I have too much to lose, she said, if I cross that line. Like what? I said. She could not think of anything that day so she said she'd get back to me. Since then I've been thinking what I would lose if I cross my line & I haven't come up with anything either. There's always another line somewhere."

DIY
Take a boring, plain t-shirt and give it some edge by "slitting the back." Fold your shirt in half (against the seams) to ensure that the slits you cut are even on each side. Keep the slits thin and cut as many or as few as you'd like; I say the more the better. And voila!

Always up for trying new things, @marisasaft and I sipped on some pulques and micheladas this weekend at the new Mexican joint, Pulqueria, situated deep in Chinatown. By the end of our [delicious] meal, we determined that our preference lies with the basic Mexican beverages. Thank you but no thank you for the spices! #margaritaplease

"Houdini" by Foster the People (RAC Remix)
While the original is great, this remix is even better. The indie pop band (FTP) started in 2009 and their album Torches has been well-received. In my humble opinion, each track I discover is better than the next.! Listen to "Pumped Up Kicks" & "Helena Beats" to get familiar with their music. Looking forward to their show at Terminal 5 on 9/27!

For the cost of a piña colada @rachelmkatz1 & I got to experience the views of Long Beach from the Allegria Hotel (80 West Broadway, Long Beach NY 11561). The hotel mixes the vibe of South Beach with a laid back approach, and an escape from the NYC heat at the very least. We will definitely be going back for a visit during the Quicksilver event in September!

Purchasing a camera has been the perfect addition (& accessory) to summer 2011. While aperture & image stabilization are not yet part of my lingo, I am thoroughly enjoying 'snapping' my summer antics.

Made in India
I had no idea what was in store for me when my boss asked me to train analysts in Bangalore, India. And even less of an idea that I would miss the analysts so strongly, 22 of the sweetest, most thoughtful and talented group of trainees, when I got back to NY. The adventure my colleague @melinatsui and I embarked upon in April 2011 turned out to be something I will never, ever forget.
My trip to India was a priceless gift. It is not every day you are handed the opportunity to experience another culture, miles away from home. I am now that girl that loves sharing my newfound love for India with other travelers. India is a beautiful place filled with kindhearted people, flavorful foods, extremely warm weather and a mix of chaos and tranquility.
Some favorites from the Indian cuisine: Tikka Masala, Paneer, Naan, Masala Chai (Tea), Gulab Jamon, Halwa a la Mode
Places I visited in India: Bangalore, Agra (Taj Mahal), Delhi, Kerala, Pondicherry, Mumbai & Goa
Special Stopover Visit: Dubai!
Where to Shop in India: Anokhi, Fabindia, most especially, though, are the streets
Random Things I Learned About India: Doubt = Question, Chai means tea (so if ordering a chai tea you're really asking for a tea tea!), a period at the end of a sentence is called a full stop, Ladies and Gents are checked separately at the airport security gates, some bathrooms don't have toilet paper, some bathrooms don't have toilets, cows have the right of way on the roads, you'll hardly ever see a dog walked on a leash, the ratio of motorcycles to cars is, well i don't really know, but it is notably greater than in the US, vegetarians are more prominent than non-vegs (carnivores)

Whenever I am with @LindsayRobyn I know it will be a good time. But throw in Barmarche, a Flirt, water bottles, lolly pops, the @boweryballroom, @Casiokids, @starfucker_USA and a random girl's bachelorette party and things may get out of hand. In the best way possible, of course.
Back to the real reason for this post, the concert we went to. @Casiokids were awesome. They are a Norwegian electro-pop ensemble from Bergen, formed in 2005. They use an array of instruments, some traditional while others are more quirky - cello, cassette-recorder, congas - and at points throughout the concert all musicians switched instruments and places on the stage. I suggest going to see them not just for their music but for their performance.
And Starfucker sounded great live. To be honest, I remember Casiokids better, but I do remember dancing to my favorite Starfucker songs, "Death by a Fetish"
