Well, thank you very much! I don't know if you have me down as the person writing the ad campaign for Hormbles Chormbles or the distraught blogger forced to cover it or both (in my head I'm both) but thank you so much!

It just goes to show that I've lived in the UK for too long, because this name doesn't hurt me as much as it hurts this poor food writer. It honestly sounds like a UK sweet. like, something that people in a country that has things like "Cozzie Livs" (cost of living crisis) "Chrimbo Limbo" (the weird period of limbo between Christmas and New Years) and snacks like the "Curly Wurly", "Cheesy Wotsits," "squirty cream," and "pickled onion monster munch" might as well have "hormbles chormbles" too.

In fact, there's a brand called Monty Bojangles that does a line called Choccy Scoffy - reading "Monty Bojangles Choccy Scoffy" does feel a bit like a hate crime - BUT!! just as you begin to arm yourselves! I point out to you that they often sell them in unique cat-shaped tins, and therefore, it makes a great present for people you don't know well. fuck it. what the fuck ever. monty bojangles choccy scoffy well moreish over chrimbo limbo, I GUESS.

given this context, i am just tired ben affleck meme about Hormbles Chormbles. Half the reason they stayed up chormblin that hormble WAS to make you talk about it.

My local queer bookstore is being forced out of their gentrified neighborhood over their free narcan and fentanyl test strips, free store for the unhoused, and free narcan trainings.

Bluestockings is an incredible worker-owned community space that has been apart of the Lower East Side for 25 years. But in the last couple years, they've faced increasing harassment from the wealthier neighbors moving in and complaining about the presence of unhoused people around their store front. Despite all their community work being allowed by their lease, the landlord is pushing for an eviction.

Please help support Bluestockings! Visit them (if you're local), order books online, donate! We need more queer and community-oriented spaces, not another overpriced coffee shop or chain franchise.

hi y’all i just wanted to put you onto this fundraiser for the buffalo nations grasslands alliance. they’re trying to recoup some of the funds for black-footed ferret conservation on tribal grounds that the trump/musk administration has frozen, which is impacting not only the conservation efforts themselves but the livelihoods of the people working on them. the frozen grant is 1.1 million but this fundraiser has a goal of 50,000.

the fundraiser has 24 days left and has only reached 2% of its goal with 11 donations. black-footed ferrets are an endangered lazarus taxon that was thought to be extinct from 1979-1981 before being rediscovered by accident. they’re a miracle of conservation and it would be horrible to lose them for good, not to mention (again) the impact of people working with these animals losing their jobs which is outlined in the fundraiser link. indigenous-led conservation efforts are extremely important for a wide variety of reasons and as someone in the zoology area i feel obligated to share this fundraiser to contribute to those efforts.

i know that things are hard right now and there’s a lot of people and organizations all across the world that need help, so don’t feel pressured BUT if you have extra money and you can contribute to this fundraiser or share it with people who can that would be great.
