"Goodbye, William," Armitage said quietly as the call clicked off.

The feeling in his chest best described was like he was about to have a heart attack. The hammering in his ribs mixed with the choking sensation and his knees about to collapse, it was too much, and Hux very slowly sank to the floor. He could feel Millie winding around his ankles, giving soft chirps, and he allowed her to bump against his hand before he buried his face into his bent knees.

The most logical next step was to call the office and calmly explain he had a family problem that required his immediate attention. A severely ill mother, indeed, that would justify time off?

That was all under the assumption that Hux would go home because a considerable part was telling him not to bother. What could he do? What could he contribute? His miserable demeanour and sharp words had no place in that home. Techie, his brother, inherited all the good qualities that would help his mother.

Armitage finally rose after what felt like a lifetime and shuffled to his room. Peeling off his clothes, he chucked them onto the futon and sank on the end of the bed. For the first time in a while, Hux had no idea what to do.

thinking about matt.

thinking about how much he loves his droids and how well he takes care of them.

thinking about how matt works out at the gym, focusing on his arms and back so he be strong enough to hold his droids in his arms and carry them like babies. most of them, at least.

thinking about this 6'4 behemoth that's built like a fridge having the little droid he made as a kid, that doesn't even come to his mid calf, following him around everywhere.
