#figure skating#ok so i've never been able to really get into being a figure-skating fan#because i have an irrational fear of someone getting sliced open by a foot knife during the process#or at least getting some horrible ice burn or a concussion from falling on a very slippery and hard surface#but! these beautiful humans without fear of balance problems are really making me feel both safe and like a pervert about watching them#good for them; i support everything they've accomplished here

Not an ID request, but I'm curious about coat colour differentiation. How do you tell the difference between a tabby tortoiseshell and a tabby with a lot of rufousing? I've made a game for myself of guessing the ID on submitted photos before I scroll down and I often find myself stumped by torbies.
a sure way is to look at the stripes. in a torbie, a patch of red fur will also have red stripes. as a black tabby with high rufousing is still entirely black-based, their stripes will be black. torbie on the left, black tabby with some rufousing on the right:
also, rufousing tends to be most visible on the legs, stomach, chest, neck, and cheeks. if there’s no red happening on the cats flanks or forehead for example, i start looking closer for if it’s rufousing

Btw, this is how conservatives keep getting to claim that trans people are a new thing no one has ever heard, because our history and existences have continually been erased or obscured systematically through out history.
The most famous example was 92 years when the Nazis raided the library of the Institut für Sexualwissenschaft, the medical practice where the term transsexual was first coined and the first gender affirming surgery was performed in in 1931.
What did the Nazis do after raiding the library on May 6th, 1933? You may be familiar with these images
