This song should by no means illicit an emotional response usually, but everytime I listen to this I end up with watery eyes. I struggled my whole life with self confidence, and a constant worry that nothing was every good enough. I refer to that as if it's in the past when I reality it's so far from the truth. At 28, I still struggle. Everytime I listen to this song I am both uplifted and just a little bit sad. Why? Because I never thought I would be successful. I never thought I would amount to anything. A few years ago my future lied on which fast food restaurant was hiring next. I thought I needed other people in my life to look successful. None of this is true. I'm surviving. I'm getting there. Just bumbling through life, and somehow I'm a federal employee with a nice apartment, the cutest kitty, a great family, some pretty fantastic friends and I'm just out here living my best life. Today, I stopped to remind myself how beautiful the city I get to live in is. The ocean never fails to remind me to relax. A friend told me that I need to try to focus on what I have to be grateful for vice the things I don't have. She's not wrong. So thank you @_akennedy for always being my cheerleader since day one.
