Kamikazee is a Filipino rock band formed in 2000. The band is composed of Jay Contreras (lead vocals), Jomal Linao (guitar and vocals), Led Tuyay (guitar), Puto Astete (bass) Bords Burdeos (drums), Jianelli James Lubiano (guitar) and Mikki Jill (keyboards & vocals). Fans and critics have described the band’s music as a mix of pop punk and hardcore punk. In August 2015, the band had temporarily reunited after a brief hiatus announced earlier in January 2015. By the beginning of 2016 the band officially entered an indefinite hiatus. They played their farewell concert on December 10, 2015 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. Around 2017, the band had a reunion gig and has been touring since. Their live performances have since been known for using expletives, sexually suggestive dances, and references to genitalia. Despite such antics, their music incorporates many elements of modern rock music, such as pop-punk, grunge and NU-metal, on some of their songs. Band drummer Bords Burdeos was also recognized for his drumwork, which according to fans and critics, added extra flair to the band’s songs. Kamikazee released their first studio album in 2002. The album’s carrier single was a heavy cover version of Britney Spears’ “Lucky”. Other notable songs include “Girlfriend”, “Ung Tagalog”, “Tsinelas” and their cover of Ariel Rivera’s “Sana Kahit Minsan”. In 2005, the band released “Chiksilog” as part of the Ragnarok MMORPG compilation album Rok On!.

Slapshock was a multi-platinum awarded Filipino heavy metal band. They were formed in 1997, originally as a nu metal act, with their early musical style compared to that of Korn. They later shifted towards a metalcore style. The group was formed on February 14, 1997 by several students at UP Diliman, with original vocalist Reynold Munsayac; he was soon replaced with guitarist Jerry Basco’s cousin, Jamir Garcia. Heavily influenced by American East Coast rap, they played in clubs in Manila in the 1990s. Playing in the trenches of pioneering rock clubs Mayric’s and Club Dredd, and inciting musical mayhem during college events helped Slapshock grab the audience’s attention and the recording industry’s. The band was signed by EMI Music (Polyeast Records) Philippines in 1998, which resulted in their first platinum-selling album 4th Degree Burn. This album birthed many cult-favorite tracks like “Agent Orange” which became the rock anthem of the youth during that time and introduced the band to the underground and commercial scene. They were nominated for Band of the Year at the NU107 Rock Awards in 2001 and 2002, and in 2003 were nominated for Best Artist by MTV Asia. Bassist Lee Nadela was also named Bassist of the Year at the 2001 NU107 Rock Award.

Ben&Ben, formerly known as The Benjamins, is a folk pop/pop rock band in the Philippines. Formed in 2015, the band has since been known for their popular hits such as “Pagtingin” and “Lifetime”, among others.One of the most popular acts nationally, they are ranked as the number one most streamed Filipino artist on Spotify for two straight years in 2020and 2021They have won several awards, including multiple Awit Awards, Myx Awards, and Wish Awards. Their debut studio album Limasawa Street was certified 3× Platinum in the Philippines by PARI earning 45,000 copies.

Parokya ni Edgar (lit: Edgar’s Parish) is a Philippine band formed in 1993. The band is known for its original rock novelty songs and often satirical covers of popular songs both foreign and local. The band is adept at playing in various musical genres. Parokya ni Edgar has been referred to by local media outlets and numerous award-giving bodies as “Pambansang Banda ng Pilipinas” (The National Band of the Philippines). Despite having “Edgar” in the band’s name, none of the members are named Edgar. Originally named Comic Relief, the band’s initial members were a group of high school students composed of vocalists Chito Miranda, Jeric Estaco, and Vinci Montaner, along with guitarists Mikko Yap and Gab Chee Kee, all hailing from Ateneo de Manila University. They were regulars in after-school jam sessions, before performing an opening number for an Eraserheads concert. This served as their break in the music industry and prompted them to add a drummer and bassist – Ateneo schoolmate Dindin Moreno and Miranda’s childhood friend Buwi Meneses, respectively. Around the same time they changed the band’s name to Parokya ni Edgar.[1] After high school, Mikko and Jeric withdrew from the band to pursue other interests. Soon after, the remaining band members invited Darius Semaña, Meneses’s former bandmate, to take the role of lead guitar.

Aristotle Condenuevo Pollisco (born October 18, 1977), known professionally as Gloc-9, is a Filipino rapper, singer, and songwriter. Regarded as one of the best Filipino rappers of all-time, his fast-flowing vocal style has made him one of the most successful hip-hop artists in the Philippines. He was described by fellow great Filipino rapper Francis Magalona as “a blacksmith of words and letters, and a true Filipino poet.” He has collaborated on almost a dozen songs with other OPM artists; "Lando" with the late Francis M, "Upuan“ with Jaezelle, "Bagsakan" with Parokya ni Edgar , "Baon" with Gab Chee Kee of Parokya ni Edgar and Francis M, and "Sari-Saring Kwento" with Noel Cabangon and Champ Lui Pio. His songs mostly tackle social issues such as social injustices, poverty and patriotism. He began his musical career with the gangsta rap group Death Threat. Gloc-9 is notably one of the few artists in the Philippine music scene who has won an award in every album he created. In his song Talumpati, Gloc-9 states that he joined a drive-by show by Andrew E.. After the show, a member of the Filipino hip hop group Death Threat came into him then gave a paper on which the contact number of the group’s leader Beware (Ronald Salanga) was written. After a phone call with Beware, he joined the group in which he began to make a name for himself in the local underground hip hop scene. His stage name "Gloc-9” came into rising when Beware told him that he must have a rap name in order to become a rapper. A number of options were suggested: MAGNUM45 and KALIBRE28 were rejected outright, but he decided that Glock 9, minus the “k”, sounded catchy.

Francis Michael Durango Magalona (October 4, 1964 – March 6, 2009), also known by the moniker Francis M, was a Filipino rapper, singer, songwriter, entrepreneur, actor, and television personality. He is widely regarded as the best and the most successful local Filipino rapper of all-time. Born in Manila, he is often credited as the pioneer of Pinoy hip-hop as he was the first Filipino rapper in the Philippines to cross over into the mainstream. He became a significant influence to artists in the Pinoy hip-hop scene and the local rap community. Beyond music, Magalona was also a television host on MTV Asia and Channel V Philippines and on the noontime variety television show Eat Bulaga!. Magalona died on March 6, 2009, seven months after being diagnosed with acute myelogenous leukemia. Magalona was later awarded a posthumous Presidential Medal of Merit. The award’s citation noted that it had been given “for his musical and artistic brilliance, his deep faith in the Filipino and his sense of national pride that continue to inspire us. Magalona was the eighth of the nine children of actors Pancho Magalona and Tita Duran, popular film stars of the 1940s and 1950s.[2] His grandfather, Enrique B. Magalona, was a politician and served as a Senator of the Philippines from 1946 to 1949 and from 1949 to 1955. He graduated from high school at the Don Bosco Technical College in Mandaluyong from 1978 to 1981 and studied at the San Beda College in Manila from 1981 to 1984.

Silent Sanctuary is a 5-piece Filipino rock band that was formed in Metro Manila, Philippines in 2001. Five studio albums have been released by the band throughout its career.Isa ang Silent Sanctuary sa pinaka sikat na Pilipinong rock band sa ating bansa.

Ang kanilang mga genres ay alternative rock, pop rock, pinoy rock, Original Pinoy Music (OPM). Nabuo sila noong 2001 at nakapag release ng limang studio albums sa kanilang career.

Ang bandang ito ay binubuo nina Sarkie Sarangay, Anjo Inacay, Allen Calixto, Kim Mirandilla-Ng at Ronnie Ropal. Meron din ang mga ito na past members na sina Jason Rondero, Chino David, Paolo Legaspi, Norman Dellosa at Jett Ramirez.

Ang kanilang kauna unahang nirelease na album ay noong February 2004. Ito ay ang “Ellipsis of the Mind” at sa parehong taon, umalis sa banda si Dellosa. Ang kanilang pangalawang album ay “Fuchsiang Pag-ibig” na nirelease under Universal Records noong 2007.

Eraserheads, isa sa mga popular na banda sa Pilipinas na nag marka ang kanilang musika sa puso ng mga Pilipino, ang banda na ito ay binubuo nina Ely Buendia, Marcus Adoro, Buddy Zabala at Raimund Marasigan, nag simula ang kanilang banda nuong 1989 at naging isa sa mga matagumpay, maimpluwensiya at makabuluhang banda sa kasaysayan ng Philippine music, madalas nga matawag ang bandang ito na “The Beatles of the Philippines”. Ilan sa mga kantang pinasikat ng Eraserheads ay Pare ko, Ligaya, Magasin, Tindahan ni Aleng Nena, Ang Huling El Bimbo at marami pang iba. Ang kantang “Ang huling El Bimbo” ay isa sa masasabing kasali sa “All time favorite songs list” ng mga Pilipino, lalo sa sa mga kantahan sa mga pagtitipon. Ang mga kabataan ngayon ay mapapansing mas sentimental, tuwing maririnig ang kantang ito ay hindi maiiwasang sumabay sa kanta at agos ng kanta, napatunayan ko ito sa nangyari kamakailan lang, sa aking eskwelahan nagkaroon ng konting kantahan at ang mula sa aking paaralan ay kinanta ito sa harap ng mga estudyante, nakakatuwang marinig ang mga tilian naming mga babae maging mga lalaki nang mag simula ang kanta at tila ba lahat kami ay kinikilig, buong kanta ay sumasabay halos lahat ng estudyante na para bang may nagsabi na dapat memoryado namin ang kanta, wala kaming kamalay malay at tila ba lasing ng dahil sa kanta.
