TEDxUniversity of Pittsburgh
Can’t believe it’s been almost a year since this TEDxUniversity of Pittsburgh.

Wideman’s latest book, “Writing to Save a Life: The Louis Till File” is on my list of must reads for the next few months. I haven’t ever been able to finish a Wideman book, maybe this will be my first. I have a vague memory of meeting Mr. Wideman I worked on a national charette to plan what, later became, the August Wilson Center. Wow, it was nearly 17 years ago and I was the coordinator of the Charette and far too shy to engage in any conversation, beyond the logistics of the event - honorarium, agenda, etc. Overall, I was too focused on the details of the event, to engage with the participants in the most meaningful ways; a youthful mistake. I hope our paths cross again. Thanks @thomaschattertonwilliams for this brilliant reminder.

I recently wrote this reflection on the changes in the neighborhood where I work in Pittsburgh. I hesitate to name the change, “gentrificiation” as I think that word clouds our ability to see the complexity of the experience.
