a/n: i did this au for hyuck ages ago and for a while this has just been hiding in my drafts until i finally finished it today lmao pls enjoy

jaemin’s first encounter with your group is when he’s having a chill arcade sesh with The Bois™

and amongst all the bright neon lights and crazy sounds of arcade games there are tv monitors playing tuned into a popular music station.

and he’s halfway through an air hockey match against renjun and mark when suddenly in the corner of his eye the most beautiful idol graces the screens of the tv monitors

and jaemin just sort of freezes,,

he is drawn to the absolute aNGEL on the screen

as a consequence his game partner jeno gets in a sudden flap as jaemin is unresponsive and mark and renjun score

‘jaemin what the hell are you doing?!!’

‘she’s a fairy…’

jaemin sighs, watching you dance about on the screen

the way your hair flips about your face so ethereally… the way your eyes sparkle… the fluidity of your movements

it is mAGICAL to him

so suddenly, halfway through jaemin’s heart-eyed wondering

he drops his striker and runs towards a screen practically yelling at his phone

‘SIRI PLEASE WHAT SONG IS THIS’

jeno starts panicking because mark and renjun are really using this time to win points

jeno: ‘JAEMIN COME BACK WE’RE GONNA LOSE’

jaemin, on his tiptoes, halfway up an unoccupied arcade game stall, stretching his arm as close to the screen as possible: ‘JUST PAUSE IT I NEED TO FIND OUT THE NAME OF THIS SONG’

jeno: ‘NSKDNKSNS IT DOESNT WORK LIKE THAT NANA’

{12:23 A.M}: “listen to me, you punk” older brother!mark fumes and grips the younger boy before him by the collar of his leather jacket. “you don’t own my sister. i clearly told you she has class tomorrow and had to be home by ten thirty. who the hell do you think you are to keep her out past midnight?”

“her boyfriend.” bad boy!jaemin smirks, completely unfazed. mark clenches his jaw and resists the urge to punch him. he’s already tired of attempting to reason with jaemin through words and knows better than to waste his remaining energy in trying to strike someone who’s clearly more street smart than him. 

“you call yourself her boyfriend, huh?” mark growls. “i go to the same university as you guys, i know about your reputation. i know you have no respect for (y/n) and that she’s just one of your dolls to perch up on your motorcycle and show off to your stupid friends.” jaemin just tuts in response.

“tsk. there’s nothing wrong with me, it’s just that your face is too buried in the books to see shit about who i really am and what’s actually going on between me and (y/n).”

suddenly, the creaking of the door to you and mark’s house interrupts the confrontation 

“um, mind if you guys tell me what’s going on?” the two boys turn to face you in response to hearing your voice. mark immediately lets go of jaemin’s jacket and grudgingly makes his way over to join you at the doorstep.

“nothing, (y/n). let’s just go inside.” he replies, running his hand through his blond hair out of frustration.

“night, sweetheart.” jaemin says before walking over to you and kissing your lips right in front of your brother’s death glare. he shoots you a wink after pulling away and leaves.

once inside, you dreamily watch him put on his helmet and drive off on his motorcycle through the window, reminded of the sparks his warmth sent down your fingertips when you held onto his waist while seated behind him and the ecstasy you felt bolting through the lit streets like there was no tomorrow.

“he’s so cool. i had the best night ever with him, mark. we rode around the entire city and he even gave me his jacket when it got darker…i think he might be the one for me.” you trail off in a trance. mark nods and yawns, his fatigue from having stayed up waiting for you being the only thing preventing him from scoffing at your description of the boy who cultivates lies as fast as he rides his bike. he’s done arguing, but only for tonight. he knows he’s soon going to have to start paying an even closer eye to your love life to prevent you from ruining your college experience too early…

mark:

i feel like mark is the type of person who will believe anyone and anything lmao. so pulling a prank on him was easy. and your acting skills were on fire. which actually made him believe that you wanted to break up with him. he'll ask a bunch of questions all at once while tearing up "what? why? did i do something wrong... dont leave me please" once you've told him it was a prank he'd be super relieved and you'd probably have to take care of this baby lion as an apology for the whole day.

renjun:

renjun , you'll have to convince him a little before making him believe you were gonna break up with him. he'd tear up right away and hold you back. after telling him it was a prank he'd be mad at you for almost giving him a panic attack. literally will not talk to you all day until you make it up to him.

jeno:

he'd jump to conclusions , like if you fell in love with someone else. he'd super sad though but once you've told him it was a prank he would just laugh it off nervously jumping into even more conclusions if this even was a prank. for the rest of the day he'd say i love you like a thousand times because poor baby was paranoid. he'll take revenge sweetie. good luck

jaemin:

jaemin wouldn't believe you. like no. even he knows no one would ever dare to break up with na jaemin. he's just too much of a perfect boyfriend. "nice try y/n" he'd probably tease you about how you failed and be sarcastic. "oh no , y/n's breaking up with me?! *fake cries*" he'd just laugh and hug you really tight and whisper about how you guys are never breaking up. he'd appreciate your effort though.

haechan:

this little shit would know lmao. he would already know you were pranking him and he would backfire. both of you are pranking gods. so did you really think haechan would believe you? he would say something like “i know.. you know i’ve been cheating on you for a couple months now..” and that shit just to trigger you. “but haechan it was a prank...” after you said that he couldnt contain his laughter anymore he just bursted out laughing and you immediately catched up and knew it was a backfire prank so you guys just end up on the floor laughing like maniacs.

chenle:

babyboyy would be so lost , and he wouldn’t even be tearing up he’d straight up cry a lot and try to hold you back apoligizing a hundred times for whatever he’s done. “chenle its not you.. its me. i fell out of love” he’d just cry even harder. but once you told him it was a prank his crying would tone down a bit but he’d still have tears and laugh a little like an idiot later. cutie

jisung:

he’d overall just be pretty quiet and listen to you explaining why you’re breaking up with him. being the smallest he’d be the most mature about it and try to understand but still cry. after you told him it was a prank he’d be like ‘o’
