“Right, silly me for thinking they did. At least I know you’re still the same as ever.”
"We really don’t have to do that thing where you pretend you know anything about me.”

"Messed up shit isn’t exactly a rare occurrence around here,” she replied with a shrug, glancing up at the man. “Johan...” A sigh. “No one here cares what you drink at what time.” Well, at least she didn’t.
“Switched sides? I just fucking got here and already someone is messing shit up. Wonderful. Do you think if I added orange juice in this people would find it socially acceptable to drink at this hour? Make my own little mimosa.”

His ‘vacation’ was starting to sound more than just a bit suspicious, but Jackie didn’t care to inquire. They all had a few skeletons in the closet. “Going over some details for my assignment tonight. One of our newer informants has evidently switched sides, so...”
“Yes. Needed to leave the country for a bit. Decided to travel. It was..refreshing. Thanks. What are you doing up so early?”

"You were gone?” Frankly, Jackie hadn’t noticed his absence, but then again, she'd hardly ever paid attention to the guy’s occasional presence at the mansion either. “Down the hallway, past the armory on the right.”
“Is it that obvious? I’m not normally around this place. Just got back from a..much needed vacation.”

“Did you forget where the liquor cabinet is?”
“I could really use a drink right about now, and yes, I’m aware of the time.”

"Oh - I’m sorry I tried to give you a chance to finish your work. I figured you’d be able to keep track of time and come pick her up when you were done.” She kept her fast pace, although trying to walk off her irritation was damn near impossible with Frank’s nagging following her. “I can’t change that, okay? You know how things work around here, this isn’t exactly a normal job with steady hours we’ve got going on here.” On some days they had to improvise a lot. “She’s fine with them and they’re not random. We’ve known them for years and they’re perfectly aware of what we’d do to them if anything happened.”
“You could have just brought her back after said half an hour though, like I said you could. Excuse me for also having to occasionally invest a few minutes in earning money for this family,” he snorted. As if training incapable wastes of space in the use of ring daggers was the only task one could be burdened with that justified just about every mess up. Rolling his eyes, he swiftly caught up with her, as per usual. Some things certainly never changed. “It only means I’d appreciate it if we didn’t have to search the entire castle for our daughter every other day and hope she’s in some random gang member’s care.” He sighed. “After all, it’s not the utmost baby proof place I can think of.”

francesco-bellomo:
“That’s an euphemism for having lost her, Jackie,” Frank deadpanned, closing the laptop and slowly rising to his feet. “Oh, you heard Cassidy had her last, that’s very reassuring.” He shook his head. “I just asked you to look after her for half an hour and you’ve somehow managed to turn this into a game of baby relay. This is like, bad sitcom material at this point. If this was an episode of some poorly written show, I would have switched it off five minutes ago.”
“You asked me to look after her two hours ago, and I’m not a damn suburban housewife. I had an assassination briefing and on top of that, I’m still supposed to train the new recruits in the use of ring daggers, which is not as fun as it sounds because they are so freaking incompetent.” The brunette stared at him. “And what the hell is that supposed to mean? You want to switch off your life now or what?” Shaking her head, Jackie walked out the door. No answer needed.
