Yall know that most POC people don't get into COD because of the racism right?

I saw a post trying to downplay the racism in the COÐ fandom because people write for the poc characters. BUT I think we are missing a big chuck of the fandom.

It took me 2 YEARS after playing my first COD game to attempt to play online. It took me 4 MONTHS after that to play with headphones on. Then I started to find COD posts online, not the happy fanfiction part, but the RACIST, DARK HUMOR, and MISOGYNISTIC part.

In 2022, I found thirst traps of Ghost on tiktok only then was I brave enough to interact with it, then I found @blnk338 beautiful Work on AO3 and the rest is history.

It's great that you can completely ignore the blatant and obvious racism from more than half of the fandom, but I can't. What we aren't going to do, though, is say it doesn't exist because a very small majority of people ride hard for Gaz

I never implied that the racism some fic authors have is not harmful and doesn’t encourage minority readers to leave the fandom. However, I did imply that the comment you made on a post where a creator is acknowledging concerns from POC and saying they are going to try and write black characters more respectfully is behavior that causes some people to leave this fandom. That author is making an attempt to be more inclusive and welcome more POC their their page and the fandom. When we can’t accept authorial mistakes, one’s not made with malice, and their attempts to do better, why would people stay in this fandom?

So, I personally don’t feel that your comment was respectful given the context. There are so many creators whose problematic writing needs to be addressed, so acting condescending to the one who acted respectfully isn’t helping anything.

You should acknowledge the disappointment black men and women face when they are misrepresented in fics. It happens again and again and is disheartening. You can also acknowledge that we need to accept when authors who are not acting in malicious prejudice are making efforts to do better. Those two instances are not mutually exclusive. How else do educate people, and encourage them to educate themselves, on how to write better black characters?

This obsession racists have with forgiveness from black and POC- because some of us choose not to coddle your feelings and immediately forgive- it’s weird.

And it also shows your privilege as a white person. How dare you, enter this ask box anonymously and try to educate me. Because truth is, these writers who get called out; they aren’t actually trying to be better, they just want to save their ass and not receive backlash. It’s been done for centuries. Throwing the rock and then hiding the hand. Coming into my inbox and spewing whatever nonsense this lengthy word salad is- is racist. Blaming Me, for the reason white creators can’t handle the energy and words they dish out, that’s racism.

My condescension is warranted, especially when you handled the situation poorly the first time. And exactly like how you’re doing now. Once is a mistake, twice is a coincidence and third is a pattern and that’s just who you are. You will not get far in life not being able to recognize why people choose not to forgive when you hurt them. ESPECIALLY, when you start your acknowledgment with, “well people told me it was wrong so I guess I’ll just take it down.” And continuously say so when people look at you funny for it . When POC look at you funny for it.

Hiding behind anon is cowardice, and you might’ve had a better experience if you would have came off it and actually tried to educate yourself instead of saying it and doing the complete opposite.

because i'm so tired of the mafia trope where the mafia man is big, bad, and ruthless in his pursuit of the reader who is a demure, soft, and civilian.

like mafia!ghost is so bored of the soft ones, the ones who bat their pretty lashes at him and fawn over the muscle bulging from his silk suit jackets. he's never been one to save anybody, so he sure as shit wouldn't be wanting to play superhero for some civilian who wouldn't last an hour in the business.

so instead he goes for you, notorious in the mafia world for your no-nonsense attitude and your way around firearms—there's a reason you're known one of the best known assassins in the game.

the only problem with ghost's choice is you want absolutely nothing to do with him. sure, you’ll meet up with him whenever he’s in need of a weapon consultation or you’ve got something he’s wanting to buy. but the second he tries and steers the conversation elsewhere, you’re promptly packing up and telling him that you’ll be in touch about his order.

ghost isn’t the first mob boss to try and worm his way into your pants, and he surely wouldn’t be the last. it just sucks that he’s the only one who you wouldn’t really mind actually entertaining. maybe it’s the way he looks at you like a lovesick puppy rather than a piece of meat?
