the next chapter for yi er san si wu (or at this point i should just start calling it 12345 to type it faster...) is giving me so many problems... it's not even exactly hard to write, it's just that i want to build on shen jiu's backstory, but at the same time i worry that adding more to his backstory will make it seem less... canon?

for example i decided to actually develop the qiu parents and let them interact with shen jiu + i added 2 concubines to the household but... i worry the reader will be? taken out of the story? because it won't seem canon enough?

i just really hope i'm not disappointing my readers with this chapter! it's become the longest chapter thus far too... it's standing at 5.5k words right now and i'm hardly done with it

well i suppose i should probably put this up here! here is my SVSSS hadestown au, with YQY as orpheus and SJ as eurydice. other casting choices are SQH as hermes (with a meta twist), bingge as hades, and SY/SQQ as persephone.

i state this in the notes, but to clarify the tags: qijiu is the main ship, bingyuan is there on the side but is still very important, and of course we have that moment of bingjiu when hades coaxes eurydice

anytime shen (jiu) qingqiu gets into an "altercation" its like:

yqy, thinking: what happened? i need to know from him what happened so i can protect him from the consequences, no matter what it was and no matter how much he might be blamed. and what would have happened if i wasn't there to do so? before, he paid the price for things that were my fault, and last time i left him- (guilt spiral, etc.)

yqy aloud: what did you do?

shen jiu, hearing this, thinking: he thinks i'd do that? how low is his opinion of me really? does he truly think there are no depths to which i wouldn't sink? and i thought it couldn't be lower. so quick to blame me and ignore anyone else's part in this. so quick to distance himself from his sordid past.

shen jiu, aloud: i'm sure it makes no difference to you.

choose your fighter: yqy's unconditional devotion and inability to communicate vs. shen jiu's self-loathing making him interpret it as disinterest and blame (and also his inability to communicate)

me and two friends spent an extremely long time debating a SVSSS into the woods AU the other day and i felt like sharing. the placements were hard. we kept moving back to square one with different ideas. at one point we were sure that MBJ and LBH would be the princes but we eventually changed that. at one point SJ was the witch and SY was rapunzel. at one point LQG was the witch???? at one point LQG was milky white. at one point LBH was rapunzel. basically it was a mess

a lot of things changed, but here is the general idea we finally came out with, under the cut

SHANG QINGHUA as the baker

SHEN YUAN as the baker's wife

MOBEI-JUN as cinderella

GONGYI XIAO as little red riding hood

SU XIYAN as little red's granny

ZHUZHI-LANG as jack

TIANLANG-JUN as jack's mom

YUE QINGYUAN as the witch

SHEN JIU as rapunzel

LUO BING-GE as cinderella's prince/the wolf

things i gotta clarify:

we are NOT YQY unfriendly here. everyone just agreed that he's a little fucked up in this AU but he has entirely well-meaning intentions. we love YQY in this household and we will tolerate no YQY hate

some roles were picked not exactly for personality but for comedics. MBJ is cinderella because it's funny that SY is pushing and prodding him for answers about LBH in he's a very nice prince. it's also funny that MBJ and LBH get married but none of them are really interested in each other and they both cheat on each other. MBJ is also cinderella so that at the end him and SQH can hook up (although i'm not a fan of cinderella/baker in the original into the woods)

anyways this AU is really funny to me and i'm gonna post a few scenes that either cement it for me in a funny or fucked up way

1: 'hello, little girl' with GYX and LBH??? yeah.

2: not to mention SXY teaching GYX how to fucking skin LBH

3: ZZL miserably saying goodbye to his snake buddy (milky white) when he has to sell it to SQH

4: SQH being a nervous wreck

5: LGJ and i guess his own children?? bullying MBJ is so fucking funny in concept. also MBJ singing to birds??? utterly htsterical

6: GYX would never be as much of a brat as little red but it's so funny to imagine the dynamic between GYX and ZZL as little red and jack

7: SQH and SJ being related is hilarious

8: YQY hysterically crying about SQH's dad (THE SYSTEM) stealing his greens from his garden

9: 'the snake as green as grass, the robe as yellow as the sun, the hair as black as ink, the slipper as pure as ice'

10: the fucking hilarious concept of SQH and SY trying to get the potion for a child...??

11: SQH being a nervous wreck AGAIN and refusing to let SY come with him and SY coming anyway

12: LBH and SY meeting up in the woods to hook up once and SY immediately dying afterwards

13: SY "this is ridiculous, what am i doing here, i'm in the wrong story"

14: all of 'a very nice prince' with SY. "is he charming? they say that he's charming."

15: ZZL in giants in the sky!!!

16: agony with LBH and LQG. the funniest part is them both constantly trying to one-up each other??

17: we also agreed that when LBH and LQG are talking about their new princesses to swoon after (snow white and sleeping beauty, in agony reprise) that they're both actually just talking about SY but neither of them realize they're both talking about the same man so they just keep trying to one-up each other while talking about the same guy

18: stay with me with YQY and SJ is fucking INSANE. "i am no longer a child, i wish to see the world!" "don't you know what's out there in the world? someone has to shield you from the world. stay with me..."

19: add-on to above: "who out there could love you more than i? what out there that i cannot supply? stay with me. stay with me... the world is dark and wild. stay a child while you can be a child, with me."

20: SY and SQH listing out all PIDW monsters to YQY in so happy. "manticore?" "imaginary." "griffin?" "extinct." "giant?" "possible! ... very, very possible."

21: SJ running away and constantly hysterically sobbing

22: LQG "my shen jiu has run off. oh, he's a changed man. subject to hysterical fits of crying, moods that no soul can predict. i know not what to do."

23: SJ running past in the background hysterically sobbing after agony reprise and LQG just going "shen jiu." with a blank face

24: SJ getting killed and YQY in lament...

25: the entirety of any moment and moments in the wood. oh my god. it's fucking hilarious. SY continuing to be in denial. "was that him? yes it was! was that me? no, it wasn't, just a trick of the woods!"

26: the entirety of your fault with everyone fighting. ZZL wailing to GYX "he went and dared me to!" "i dared you to?" "you dared me to! he said that i was scared to! he dared me!" "no, i didn't!"

27: YQY absolutely SLAYING it in last midnight?? unsheathing xuan su at the end maybe?? "you're so nice. you're not bad, you're not good, you're just nice. i'm not good, i'm not nice, i'm just right."

28: if SJ was still the witch last midnight would be PERFECT for him, especially the line above and "i'm what no one believes"??

29: the system just being fucking killed is so funny to me

i LOVE warrior cats it's one of my autistic special interests from when i was a kid that never went away. this post felt tailored to me and i just HAD to respond so here are some of my ideas!

i went for straight warrior names, but feel to turn any disciples into --paw. under the cut to avoid being annoying

based off of their actual name meanings:

shen qingqiu: leafpour OR leafdrop OR leafglare -> leafstar (fallingleaves is a good name too, but i didn't like fallingstar)

luo binghe: icyriver OR icystream OR icyheart -> icystar (alternatively, glacierheart -> glacierstar)

yue qingyuan: mountainpeak -> mountainstar (i also liked peakstar, but couldn't think of a suffix before --star)

liu qingge: willowsong -> willowstar (alternatively, melodywillow -> melodystar. i also liked risingashes for him, not in relation to his name but more of a phoenix reference...)

shang qinghua: flowerwhisper -> flowerstar (alternatively, blossomwhisper -> blossomstar)

mobei-jun: frostdesert -> froststar (alternatively, snowydesert -> snowystar, or freezingdesert -> freezingstar)

mu qingfang: fragrantwood, fragrantbark -> fragrantstar (alternatively, sweetscent -> sweetstar?)

qi qingqi: silverflower -> silverstar? unsure on this one, her name is harder. (alternatively, quailgrass is good! but i didn't like quailstar)

wei qingwei: this one is also hard... i think highstar, largestar, or loftystar works but i can't think of a suffix before --star. (though they didn't relate to his name, i think something like stonemelt or stoneslash or boulderslash would work too)

ning yingying: smallwhisper (i liked smallspring and smallpaws too, though they didn't relate to her name)

ming fan: brightgallop, lightgallop

liu mingyan: drizzlemist, willowmist

sha hualing: sandblossom, sandflower, flowerchime

gongyi xiao: this one... got me. i'm genuinely not sure how to make one based off of his name. i tried my best by making some of it up so have: gentleweep, gentlemourn, OR for a happier name, gentlelight

su xiyan: nightrise

tianlang-jun: daycarnelian -> daystar (but i also think it would be fun to name him dayfall to match sxy!)

zhuzhi-lang: bamboobranch
