Record breaking bike
1.The main point of this article is to inform the reader about a new type of bike (Eta) that broke the world record for fastest human-powered vehicle. The main point is first illustrated by stating the achievement the bike succeeded in by saying, “Last September, a strange-looking, bullet-shaped bike broke the record for fastest person-powered vehicle on Earth.” The idea develops as the article goes further into detail by explaining the appearance of the bike and how it works and explaining the reasons to how it broke the record and even informing us about the person that is pedaling for the bike. The article develops by stating the reasons and explaining more about the bike (Eta) and the race it took place in such as by saying, “ Reichert first pedaled Eta through a 6 km (4 mi)-long section of the course to accelerate, or increase the velocity. Then he reached a 200 meter (219 yard) segment where judges recorded his record-breaking speed.”
2.Purpose: The purpose of this article is to inform the readers about the bike (Eta) and its achievement through explanation and reasons. The purpose is first expressed to us in the title for it states and clarifies what the article is about. The author provided plenty of information to make sure the readers understood and were informed about the new ideas through reasons and explanations. The author used some words we were unfamiliar with but provided an explanation to those words which helped me understand the text more. There was enough information that helped me to understand it more and made me feel more informed about the topic.
Organization: The article is organized logically, with a title at first which introduces us to what the topic is about. The information in the article was divided into small sections with small headings for each, that way helped me better understand what information to expect next. The article is short length but provides us with enough information that helps us to understand the concept of the article. The article provides a picture of how the bike looks like which I think is a great idea for it draws a reader in due to the image.
3.Is the author bias?- Does the author work with the company that produced the bike? Thus only telling the advantages and hiding the disadvantages therefore not telling the other side of the story for the author only provided us with the pros of the bike and not telling us the cons.
Who wrote this article?-Was it written by someone who has experience with vehicles? Does the author have background or did research about the topic for in order to write an article you should know and do research about the certain topic in order to explain it.
4.I would say that the article is a reliable source. First, because it provided us with information that was backed up with reasons and explanation such as providing new terms we are unfamiliar with but explaining it. The second reason is that it is published recently which tells us the information is up to date and is based on facts. The third reason is it is posted on a webpage that is specialized in science which relates to the topic.

Christopher and his family:
I love the character Christopher for many reasons. He is smart and wise which is why he wants to take A level maths and confident in himself tat he will get straight A's. He is honest, most of the times and cares deeply for animals. Throughout the story we see the character Christopher evolve and overcome obstacles such as talking with strangers. The character Christopher is a different character that shows ambitious and determination to get things done such as finding out who killed Wellington which he did. He overcame adversity multiple times in this book such as his journey to find his mother. Christopher is a different and interesting character that shows development throughout the story.
At first I liked Christopher’s father, he took care of Christopher and loved him as much as two parents would. He played the roles as both the mom and father towards Christopher, he knows what Christopher likes and dislikes like when he spread out his fingers to show Christopher he loves him for he knows Christopher does not like hugs. But as the story evolves we soon figured out that Christopher’s hid the fact that Christopher’s mother is alive and hid all the letters she wrote to Christopher. Christopher soon found out about that and Father even confessed that he was the one who killed Wellington, that made Christopher distance himself from him for he doesn’t know if Father loves him or not for he lied. At that moment I disliked Father for he lied to Christopher about his mother for his own selfish reasons.
At the beginning of the story I didn’t know what to think of Christopher’s mother for she was dead. But as the story continues we soon knew she left him for she thought he was better off without her which I didn’t like. She gets mad and is a hot tempered person and shouts a lot when Christopher behaves in a certain way in which she doesn’t know what to do. But then I realized that she did it for Christopher in which it is understanding. And it shows she still cares for Christopher for she written him letters every week.
I do not sympathize Christopher’s mother when she behaves unskillfully for it is her own actions such as when she yells at Christopher but I do sympathize Christopher’s father for he taken care of Christopher as both roles as a mother and a father in which he tries his best to make Christopher happy but some of his actions were'nt acceptable. I don't blame them both Christopher’s mother and father for their faults, for people make mistakes but should learn from it.

Social media
My opinion of social media has changed from doing this project in various ways. At first I used social media for my own reasons such as entertainment but doing this project has changed my ways. Social media could be a way of education where we can express our thoughts and opinions academically and share it with our classmates. This project has shown me the other side of social media where instead of wasting our time we can use as a way to express ourselves and learn various new things from it or from other people and even taught me to think before posting. Social media could be used in many ways, it is what you choose that you believe is the right one to benefit you.

I totally agree with you in this statement. Violence should never be a solution to an argument, there are other methods to settle a dispute. We should not end a argument with violence but instead find other solutions such as talking politely to settle the dispute. I agree with you that we should raise and strengthen our words, rather than raise our voice. We should use our words not our hands to settle a situation.
“"VIOLENCE CAN BE A REASONABLE RESPONE TO AN UNREASONABLE SITUATION.”
I totally and utterly disagree with this quote. When I’m arguing with my sister, I tell her at the end, fight fire with fire. I only use it when it comes to fighting with her, but really when you are having an argument and you use violence to end it, let me tell you my dear fellows there will no full spot to the argument. Why? Because if your both just shouting and using bad language, you are both alike and repulsion will occur. They say raise your words not your voice. In an argument there is always a person who agrees and one who opposes that, yah that’s normal, it’s an argument. One will try to convince the other that their point of view is better. How will you do that? By talking politely, but at the same time strengthen your words, and then the other person will think about it.
As my sister once told me, when there are two people in an argument, one hard as a rock and the other one soft as a mother’s love, the soft one will argue in a way which will make the hard one reduce it’s toughness. So let me get to my point here, using violence in an unreasonable situation can be accepted if and only if you have tried other methods and wasn’t successful, then you could use violence but rather in a good way. Otherwise if the person against you is not capable of fighting with words but rather with fists then that would be the reason why I disagree with this quote.

I totally agree with you in this statement, for there is no such thing as normal when it comes to us human beings. Everyone has their own characteristics and qualities that makes them one of a kind, it’s what makes us so special and unique from everyone else. Our characteristics, behaviors, and qualaties will all define us for who we are, a unique and special person who is anything but normal.
"There is no such thing as ‘normal’ when it comes to human beings.”
I strongly agree with this quote, in fact I’ve been waiting for this word ‘NORMAL’ to come to me one day, in order for me to show the world it’s true color. What is normal? Someone define it for me. What will you say, normal means behaving in a certain way. You can’t define it, because it has no definition, it’s just a word consisting of letters. Every human being is created with different personalities, different characters, and different behaviors, in short we are all unique. Each one of us acts in their own way. So WHO on this planet has the right to use the word normal as a description of humans? NO ONE.
Let’s take Christopher as an example from the story. Christopher’s character is full of weirdness, that i agree, but it doesn’t mean that he is not normal. He is normal in his own way. Everyone is normal in their own way, so how could you call someone not normal just because his/her behavior doesn’t clash with yours? The word NORMAL does not exist in the human world. If it did then we would all think, act,and behave in the same way, and my dear fellows we wouldn’t have had a developed world.

"Violence can be a reasonable response to an unreasonable situation"
I disagree with this statement for violence is never the answer in any situation and it shouldn’t be. Through displaying violence, it can cause and stir up bigger problems. It is not a reasonable choice to solve any problem, it actually make things worse. We should never raise our hand at other people it just shows how aggressive you are and that will keep people away from you.
An example from the book, is when Father used violence against Christopher after finding out about the book. Instead of talking to him, Father resolved in the violence matter which just made matters worse. Instead of taking his anger out on Christopher he could have resolved it in an reasonable matter by talking to him. And even he should be aware of Christopher’s condition that he does not like to be touched or yelled for it just sends mixed signals to him. Anger can lead people to violence which leads to people getting hurt, which isn’t a correct way to resolve disputes and it should never be a response. There other ways to find a solution or settle a dispute but violence should not be one of them. That’s why we need to think first before we act.

Isolation
1."It was nice in the police cell.”
In this quote we can see that Christopher enjoys being alone and isolated from everyone. He felt safe in the prison cell for he was the only one there and was alone with his thoughts.
2. "I knew that it meant "happy," like when I'm reading about the Apollo space missions, or when I am still awake at three or four in the morning and I can walk up and down the street and pretend that I am the only person in the world.”
Here Christopher fantasizes to be isolated from everyone and be the only person in the world. In this quote it deeply shows how Christopher is happy to be alone with everyone gone.
"I didn't speak to anyone and for the whole afternoon I sat in the corner of the Library groaning with my head pressed into the join between the two walls and this made me feel calm and safe.”
This quote was when Christopher had a black day and the only way to make him feel calm and safe was to be alone and isolated from everyone else which made him happy.
There is a contradiction here, for Christopher prefers to be alone but knows he is unable to take care of himself on his own. For as much as he likes to be alone he needs a little help to guide him through his life. Christopher doesn’t like when people touch him or the other way around, for considering his condition he doesn’t like to talk to strangers, for people’s emotions are too complex for Christopher to figure out in which he doesn’t like for he likes things to be simple. That’s why he is okay to touch animals for their emotions are simple to understand and Christopher could easily recognize their feelings for it is simple with no complexity.

Lying is always wrong: White lies and lies of omission are as immoral as outright lies.
Lies are awful things that us humans tend to do very often. Many do it to protect someone from getting hurt but telling lies is the problem wether it is a white lie or lies of omission, they all end up hurting someone. Lies tends to break trust between loved ones such as friends or family. After Father lied to Christopher about his mother, Christopher felt disconnected towards his father for he broke the trust that Christopher always believed in. And one of the things that shows Christopher that someone loves him is by being honest and now he feels frightened and confused since Father lied to him. This lie caused Christopher to run away. Lies can lead people to make bad decisions and hurt everyone that is involved with them. And even telling lies around young individuals could make them assume that telling lies are okay, which is wrong. Such as when Christopher said it is okay to tell white lies since Father told him it doesn’t mind if you tell a white lie. A white lie is when you don’t tell the whole truth but instead hide it. Lies can make people make wrong decisions and it often hurts people after finding out the truth. Even though telling the truth might hurt someone, it is better than telling a lie.

The roles:
For the role of Christopher I picked Freddie Highmore due to his young famous roles such as Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I think he will portray Christopher well due to his acting skills in various kinds of films. Such as August Rush where he shows his devotion and passion to music, like Christopher but with math and his devotion to find his parents in NYC a place he does not recognize, such as Christopher with his mother. And his capability from being different from other people like his role in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory where he was different from the other kids.
I picked Matt Damon for the role of Father due to his role in We Bought A Zoo, where he is taking care of his children as both mom and dad after their mom passed away in which it shows a loving father doing the best he can to make everyone happy and do the best thing for his children. Just like the relationship between Father and Christopher.
For the role of Mother I picked Amanda Seyfried due to her role in Pan. In which she portrays the mother that leaves her child in order to deal with other issues but she still shows she cares for him such as in a letter. Which is kind of similar to the relationship between Mother and Christopher. And also due to her great acting skills in different types of genres.

Christopher’s decision
Christopher decided to go to London and live with his mother, for after finding out that his father had hid his letters that mother sent to Christopher and that he confessed that he killed Wellington, Christopher did not feel safe in his house anymore, not with father living in in it for he was scared that Father might murder him so he decided he does not want to live with him anymore. Christopher felt frightened from father because he lied to him and telling the truth is one of the things that shows Christopher that someone loves him and since father lied to him, Christopher feels disconnected towards him. During the process of choosing where to live, Christopher had many options like living with Mrs. Shears but since she did not answer her door he went to his other option which was going home. But he did not like this choice for he is afraid to live under the same roof as father, so his next option was staying in the garden, which made him more frightened of the thought that Father might finding him. His other option was living with Uncle Terry which he did not like since he smokes cigarettes and lived in Sunderland which he didn’t know how to get to. That left Christopher with the last and final option which is going to London and live with his mother. And after planning and organizing his thoughts, Christopher sought to live with his mother and there was no turning back.

Social networking
Social networking helps me to connect with the world in many ways. Through social networking I gain new knowledge about the world by reading the news of what’s happening in other countries and even in space. Through social networking I can share my ideas or even gain new ones by people around the country in order to try and experience new things. Through social networking I can stay connected with my relatives and friends to share new ideas and news. So connect yourself with things that are useful and will benefit you rather than wasting your time with negative impacts.

How Christopher feels about the world around him..
“I think prime numbers are like life. They are very logical but you could never work out the rules, even if you spent all your time thinking about them” ― Mark Haddon, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time
This quote explains how Christopher feels about the world around him. He compares prime numbers with life stating that they are both logical but you can’t work out the rules which means you don’t know what is going to happen, you just have to take the risk. For life is a series of surprises and if you spent your whole time thinking about what the rules are you might not even find one, for it is through your experience of choices and mistakes that bring out the rules. And everyones rules might be different from each other for everyone is different.

Christopher’s fight with his father:
Christopher arrived home before his father so he made himself comfortable but forgot his book on the kitchen counter, for when his father arrived from work he found the book. He started reading the book and Christopher knew he made a mistake by leaving it there. Father got angry at Christopher for writing the book which includes Mr. Shears and his mother and that he disobeyed his rules such as to stop putting his nose in other people’s businesses. So he started shouting at Christopher. As father’s voice got louder Christopher knew he was angry at him. For Christopher disobeyed his Father by chatting with Mrs. Alexander. Father held Christopher’s hand and started dragging him and Christopher started to hit him for his Father took him by surprise, which Christopher does not like. And after a while Christopher blacked out and found himself on the carpet with blood on his hand and his head hurt which might be caused by father or the blood was father’s when Christopher started hitting him. Father went out to the garden and threw Christopher’s book in the dustbin and locked the door behind him. This shows a new side of father which is violence but it also shows that he is caring, for he did not want Christopher to find out about the affair so he might not think of his mother as a bad person. Plus, father does everything to take care of him for all he has is Christopher and that bond is beyond breakable, for both of them truly care about each other.

Social media & written communication:
Social media has changed the way I think about written communication, for in nowadays I communicate with my family and friends through social media. Through social media, communication is faster and we can share our thoughts, ideas, or news in an instant. While writing a letter consumes time for writing it then sending it to the person and waiting for them to write back can take days.
Even though many people use social media now, there are some people that write letters to show sentimental value. But I prefer social media for I am used to it and it is faster than writing a letter. The world is developing new ideas but it is still nice to bring back the old way and maybe one day i’ll try writing a letter.
