she tried to steady her breathing, rocking back and forth as she rocked back and forth, huddled up in a tight ball. "what do i do?" the girl cried out, as if hoping that someone would come to save her. ( xhanjs )

plenty of people found fireworks to be beautiful. soonwon could admit that the views were spectacular - the experience one he had yet to find an equivalent to. but there was something about it that never felt as exciting as he supposed it meant to feel like. seeing others cheer and record the show was a stark contrast against his subtle disinterest as he lingered towards the back of the crowd that had stopped to admire the flowers in the sky.

the one thing on his mind is considering the foot traffic that will erupt once the show ends so he chooses to leave the show early, excusing himself as he weaves through the few couple of people at the back near him. between one burst and the next, soonwon almost doesn’t make out the sound - but he catches onto a whimper. stopping in his tracks, soonwon’s head turns from side to side as he questions if he’s only hearing things when he hears a cry. immediately, soonwon pinpoints the direction it came from and he hurries over, turning around the stand to find - jinsol - squeezed into the furthest part of the corner. 

something tugs at his heart (he tries to brush it off) and he takes it as adrenaline. before he realizes it, he’s already in front of jinsol hovering over her protectively as he feels the fear from her. he feels lost though, and he’s not sure why the first thing he says is,

“ jinsol ? hey , i’m here . everything’s going to be okay . ”

soonwon is trying to calculate the chances of getting banned from the shooting booths. as long as they’re making money, they shouldn’t mind soonwon winning right? over and over and over again. in all technicality, they were still being paid for each attempt - he wants to rationalize when the booth owner gives him a slightly jaded look as he comes to a stop, eyeing the toy gun resting on the counter edge.

truth be told, soonwon is only doing his part for the night in winning as many prizes as he can for nic - small favor for the bigger ones that nic provides. the array of plushies that line the back of the booth are definitely a good selection and soonwon is sure that nic will be more than happy with the choices available. he turns to nic to ask which he wants but the thought from earlier slips out instead.

the pumpkin soju mix sits horribly in soonwon’s stomach, sloshing from side to side and even doing a flip that leaves the feeling of bile creeping up the back of his throat. in all honesty though, soonwon is much too drunk to feel the discomfort of his stomach arguing against the way that his limbs move a little too fast for his mind to catch up with, swaying unsteadily before latching his hand onto dylan’s arm. soonwon laughs heartily as his grip tightens - he’s not too sure if he’s using dylan to steady himself or if he’s keeping dylan from tripping over his own feet. 

a drinking competition was probably the last thing soonwon should have gotten himself into but there was no faster way to get slammed to enjoy the night. he wasn’t sure at what point, but he’d lost track of who had been winning and who had been losing after the last shot they took before they were kicked from the booth.

” they said too rowdy . we haven’t even gotten started ! i could still go for more . i could . but i’m no-aht , drrrinking anymore of that pumpkin stuff . ”

the sound of screams in the short distance has soonwon reeling back to reality as he stares up at foliage from where their hiding spot in the bushes beneath a large tree. it’s height casts an extra layer of shadow on them with the carnival full swing around them in the park. the number of people and actors scaring everyone is at an all time high and soonwon has found it to be a little more endearing than he expected.

he feels like he’s on a rollercoaster and he should probably be doing a little better at pulling his body in tight rather than being sprawled haphazardly on the ground. his chest heaves as he breathes in deeply, body working twice as hard against the alcohol streaming in his blood and the adrenaline paired with it. it’s a rush, but soonwon doesn’t mind the feeling too much as he turns over to look at minki before laughing out quietly.

soonwon is still trying to figure out if it’s a prank or if he simply didn’t actually find the end of the mirror maze. the closed and locked door in front of him has him confused about both possibilities. maybe he hadn’t actually reached the end of the maze yet. it wouldn’t make sense for them to close the exit with the attraction still open and running. right?

he scratches his neck in silent debate before turning to stare into his many different reflections presenting his dilemma right back at him. in any given situation, soonwon would say that he was pretty good with directions. but placed in an intentionally deceiving environment as such, there was only so much the guy could do. holding the jaws of defeat open by and inch, soonwon decides to trudge into the direction he came from before catching onto the sound of a voice under the loud carnival music.

running into mika had been a pleasant surprise to have someone familiar to check out the carnival with. however, soonwon could only imagine that it had quickly turned into quite a disappointing time for mika witnessing the tragedy of his playing skills. after all, he had lost at the simple ring toss, bean bag toss, and basketball hoops. coincidentally, all things that had to do with tossing. (as if there couldn’t be any clearer sign than tonight that soonwon wasn’t fit for something). embarrassingly enough, he had even managed to fail at the failed at the fishing booth where he somehow hooked the one dud fish they threw in as a joke.

so, with pockets a little emptier than the beginning of the evening, the last thing soonwon would have anticipated was winning his first round of carnival games that night at the horse racing stand. it comes as a complete surprise when the booth master suddenly shouts #9 as the winner - as in the horse he had been playing for won. it takes him a second before he processes being asked if he’d like to play again for a bigger prize.

things gone wrong ! ansong carnival plot call !

i know im late to the party and have a handful of you guys to still get to for intro plotting 🥹 but whether we’ve been plotting or not, if you’re interested in of the below please emoji and i will throw up starters this weekend asap! 

🔒 trapped ! spooky malfunctions for a spooky week. muse and soonwon get stuck in one of the rides together! (best suited for gyro drop, ferris wheel for something convo based. best suited for house of horror or hall of mirrors for some confusion and panic)

🧸 sharp shooter remix ! i had a carnival shooting plot that fits perfectly for this so, ill throw it here again! haha sharpshooter soonwon on the loose. make him win you prizes or something! horribly bad at all the other games but hand him something he can shoot with and he’s the best at winning games. 

🍻 drink it up ! soonwon is always down for a friendly bet or competition. there’s a new alcoholic drink inspired by halloween with pumpkin infusion. frankly, its disgusting but soonwon is no quitter. cue two drunken muses having too much fun and falling continuously through the fairgrounds. 

👻 in hiding ! some more drunk shenanigans? muse and soonwon are hiding from the carnival actors, admittedly a little too drunk and fully immersed in not wanting to be jumpscared or see ghosts (lol)

with halloween just around the corner, soonwon can say he’s somewhat happy. a reason to celebrate means a reason for gatherings. gatherings mean - people looking for spaces to host. which is where soonwon and the funeral home rec center comes in. one of the neighbors well-versed in travel has decided to host a pumpkin carving contest of their very own. and the prize to entice participants? a free gourmet dinner at the seasons bistro. 

if there’s any one thing that soonwon loves more than food, it’s anything that is free. at least, with the recent changes in finances and budgeting soonwon has had to adjust to. 

so, that’s exactly why he finds himself amongst the small group of people who have shown up to take part in the contest that evening. at the table he stands in front of, there’s a sign that says ‘pumpkins gifted by the ansong’s farmer’s market’. he proceeds to scan the different pumpkins spread across the table until landing eyes on the perfect one. he’s quick to grab it and a small basket of carving tools. soonwon turns abruptly with sudden motivation to make the best jack-o-lantern for that night, coming to a quick stop when he almost barrels down someone else.

“ june ! sorry , i didn’t see you there . ” an excited smile. “ are you taking part in the competition too ? ”

a washer that has been passed down four times can only do so much. and on the budget that soonwon is on, he most definitely can’t afford buying a new one considering - as the repairman stated “it’ll cost you more to fix this than to buy a new one that actually works at this point”. considering the amount of times the washer had leaked on him, soonwon had found himself dropping by the local laundromat a lot more than he cared to admit to avoid any further damages to his apartment. 

so much to his chagrin, he’s found himself at the laundromat once more. rather than his typical drop-off and return, soonwon has willingly plopped himself into the far corner of the seating area. managing the unused funeral home has left him with a bit more baggage of stress paired with his broken washing machine recently and with it at an all time high, he does what’s best and starts tackling the source of his problems. balancing his finances. that is until another occupant approaches him. there’s something about their voice that rings familiar but it’s only after soonwon lifts his cap to look up at them underneath the yellow laundromat lights that he realizes-

“ oh … it’s you … ” a moment of silence. the raise of a brow. a judgmental stare. “ you don’t know how to … open a game ? ”

family consisted of his parents and younger twin siblings who all passed away in their own tragic ways. death being a big theme in his life has certainly bled over into what he came into doing at ansong as a funeral home owner and coordinator

but ! everyone in ansong is already dead so no one really needed the funeral home services. soonwon's still gotta make money to pay bills though so he eventually decided to rent/lease out unused space for the community to host their own recreational activities.

owns a stray white jeju dog named duyu (he couldn't choose between tofu or milk)

he does not want to remember his life. based off the one core memory he's unlocked now, he doesn't believe his life to have been a good one (which is unfortunately true)

also have very minimal basic memories unlocked (also because i couldn't figure out what to choose tbh)

plots/connections

please give me neighbor dynamics that bother him for silly things or mundane things, or any reason to be honest ; or he keeps getting your mail because for some reason it always gets mixed up in the delivery process

maybe you think he's the crappy neighbor doing something but it's actually not him or ; he's confrontational and maybe he thinks you did something and corners you like why do you keep leaving your empty ramen cups on the tables in the rec room

maybe his dog jumps you, or chases you because you forgot you have food in your pocket which leads to soonwon apologizing profusely

anyone teaching or hosting classes or meetings at the funeral home rec hybrid center ! maybe no one signed up for the class so soonwon attends (could be out of curiosity or pity) ; maybe you're upset about the price to rent out rooms ; or you have ideas to expand the rec center uses ; try to convince him to turn it into a full time rec center

for the ladies (or even guys too maybe) a meet cute ? i have no idea, i just think meet cutes are fun to write though i don't know how much soonwon would perceive it as a meet cute feeling wise and internally lol

finding out soonwon is a sharpshooter at a carnival or game? and he has no idea why because it's his "first" time shooting
