skam españa: we’re gonna actually make a good william and make you become actually endeared by him and his relationship with nora and promote healthy communication
skam españa: lol btw he’s going to london for a year and a half
#why must every william go to london why does this curse persist#also...maybe not a great time to move to england#when i saw the clip today i wasn't expecting him and i was just like ugh yes i need a cute scene to soothe my soul#like obviously i didn't want nora in a relationship again for a while but like...give me nora FINALLY teaching him english#i mean it would've been way worse if they instantly got back together let me make that clear

seeing a teenage girl saying "i can't help you change and become a better person. you need to see a psychologist for that" to her abusive boyfriend in a time when media loves to use the bad-boy-becomes-good-due-to-the-emotional-labour-of-his-girlfriend trope is actually revolutionary

It has been very interesting to see self-proclaimed Nora fans absolutely shitting on her all season. I’ve read comments such as Nora not being a good remake Noora, Noora would never, Nora is an idiot, Nora is to blame because she wanted a relationship and didn’t care with whom, Nora is a choice of words for allowing Miquel to take those pictures of her, Nora is damaged goods after having sex with Miquel, and what I think they consider the worst attack: Nora doesn’t deserve Alejandro. He is too good for her.
I can’t imagine the writers predicted this, because I never thought I’d see noorhelm stans talk that way about a Noora, but, after having to see that shit on youtube, instagram, the website… It has been so satisfying to hear the girl squad tell Nora that she’s not an idiot, it’s not her fault, it’s Miquel’s fault, they certainly don’t think less of her, they love her and they support her.
In fact, it has been so great that the only time the girl squad has had major internal strife so far was when the girls found out that Eva and Jorge had gotten together behind Inés’ back. The squad only ever broke up because Eva had hurt someone who wasn’t even a friend of theirs, who they didn’t even like.
Nora, this character who doesn’t deserve to be a Noora remake, is such a bad Noora, that she didn’t even date the school stud behind her best friends’ back. What an asshole!

It's super important for Nora to say that she knew the theoretical content about toxic and abusive relationships and saw how other girls got into toxic relationships and suffered because of it, but she couldn't figure out when it happened to her. Because she was nullified, blinded. And it's not easy to get out either.
It was unintentionally an answer to all the people who criticized Nora because "how can that happen to her, the feminist!!!". She answered you herself. It can happen to anyone. Being a feminist doesn't get you out of it.

me seeing hugo and viri communicate about their feelings with viri pushing back when hugo goes too far and standing up for herself and hugo telling her how he really feels and saying what she deserves to hear
hugo i’ve been rooting for you these past two seasons but if you hurt viri in any way shape or form i s2g
#standing up for herself is the wrong phrase but like two seasons ago she would've just shrank into herself y'know#if hugo had upset her but now she's like 'you know you're actually being an asshole'

skam españa said "we're going to make you root for every straight couple and we're not sorry about it" and we just let them.

skam españa + healthy romantic relationships: some notes
jorge is one of the only jonases who, I genuinely believe, never stopped loving the show’s eva, but there’s no fear they’ll get thrown back together too soon. eva ended things to focus on herself and on fighting her own loneliness and since their breakup, we’ve seen her smiley, surrounded by friends, and happy being single. and jorge clearly respects that and loves to see her happy, even though he misses her
crisana feels like one of the evaks that’s most grounded: we know that their issues didn’t magically disappear when they said they loved each other, but they communicate. skames has shown the difference between bending over backwards to make sacrifices and change for your partner (nora/miquel) and continually bettering yourself, in part so that you can have a sustainable relationship with the person you love. the show keeps finding ways to point out that the “work” cris and joana put into their relationship is normal, equal, and serves both of them, makes them both happy and better people — whereas nora is putting work in that’s leaving her drained, exhausted, not herself. when in love, cris is more involved with the world around her; she’s more honest about her feelings and perceptive with those around her. nora is less.
alejandro telling nora, before their argument, that if it’s what she wanted, they didn’t have to talk anymore!! no other william would ever — one of my complaints about the noorhelms is that (until the end, when some of the better remakes subvert it) the relationship is almost entirely on the william’s terms. just like with jorge and eva, alejandro is clearly hurt (in this case, that nora doesn’t even want a friendship) but he cares more about her happiness. his anger during their argument seemed to come way, way, way more from concern for her well-being than a desire for a relationship
hugo is technically magnus, but he doesn’t have the same sex-crazed, borderline misogynistic attitude some of his worse international counterparts have. he doesn’t seem just thirsty; he actually appreciates and wants to be with viri. i love that viri, who was so timid and overshadowed around alejandro, comes alive around hugo and feels comfortable challenging him. and i love that he makes fun of her, but when it comes down to it, it’s so clearly just flirtation: he laughs at her corniness and romanticism but he’s also excited to ultimately say the corny, sweet thing that will make her smile. and, like, to go instagram official after one date
and on that note, it’s starting to make sense that we’re watching viri come more alive and open up to her friends now that she’s with someone who values and likes her, and we’ve watched nora fade away. and as much as these relationships have affected all the girls (amira and spanish yousef, you’re up next!!!!) for better or worse, their friendship is what really strengthens them all. and in that sense, i think it works to have joana only in the girl squad sometimes — because at the end of the day, this show is about this group’s friendship. that’s the show’s love story.
#yes to all of this#i rarely route for the joneva pairings but i am not opposed to endgame jorge and eva#spain
