Ok here's an interesting one for discussion
Is any pokemon really ment to be furry bait
Do you think the multi million dollar company is really designing pokemon specifically to target a niche Internet fandom
Or do you think the company that has been designing anthro designs since the beginning sees that they are popular among both adults and children and makes more of them
Like lucario was 1st seen is a movie which came out in 2005 which means it was probably designed in the early 2000s
Yet lucario is basically always called furry bait when the topic comes up
But do you think it was intentional
Like braxin is am insanely popular pokemon in Japan
So I think they said "hey this pokemon is popular so let's make another starter like it"
But its definitely an interesting discussion

Is okidogi furry bait
Reasons why it could be considered furry bait:
- another sort of "generic muscular animal"
- classic bipedal dog
Reasons why it could not be considered furry bait:
-body shape while bipedal isn't particularly humanoid unlike alot of the others in this "genre" of pokemon design
Suggested by my friend djura on discord because he wanted to know what people think

Is granbull furry bait
Reasons why it could be considered furry bait:
- anthro dog in the most traditional way
- dex often describes it as timid and sensitive which could be seen as a more traditionally human trait
Reasons why it could not be considered furry bait:
- isn't designed to look like human clothing and is more supposed to look like a traditional dog collar
- not particularly humanoid
Going out today so posting this early sorry I missed yesterday I still don't know how scheduling works I'm doing this all manually

Is grumpig furry bait
Reasons why it could be considered furry bait:
- given its category as the manipulate pokemon it would be safe to assume it is rather intelligent
- arms look like puffy jacket sleeves
- I am the only person in the world who like grumpig (I am a furry)
Reasons why it could not be considered furry bait:
-body shape is alot less humanoid
-pigs aren't generally common anthro animals and as such usually aren't included in "furry bait"

Hi there this blog is here for a little bit of research and a stupid study I want to conduct
Here to ask one simple question
Is this pokemon furry bait?
For a more detailed explanation feel free to keep reading if you're just here for some polls feel free to just scroll on past
(All polls are tagged #poll so if you want to avoid other stuff I might post you can always look for them that way)
But here's a better explanation of what I'm doing
I want to figure out what furry bait means in regards to specifically pokemon, pokemon design, and in the pokemon fandom
I personally don't really like the term furry bait in regards to pokemon for a couple reasons that will be mentioned as we go along and I prefer to call them "heavily anthro pokemon" but I also don't feel it has the exact same definition as furry bait when talking about pokemon and also its what basically everyone else uses so I will be using it for simplicity sake
What even is furry bait in regards to pokemon?
Generally furry bait has 2 meanings in most non pokemon related media or fandoms
Specifically designed to bait furries into buying or enjoying a product due to use of anthro designs
Anthro characters that could easily be seen as conventionally attractive
But I personally don't feel either of these definitions apply to pokemon and its also generally not how I see the term furry bait used by fans either
I spend alot of time on a pokemon discord server so the topic comes up alot and often people use really broad definitions that you can very easily apply to pokemon not typically seen as furry bait
Most broad definitions I get seen thrown around are stuff like
Bipedal animal
Popular among furries
Acts like a human
Designed to look like human clothing
Which obviously these definitions can be used by practically all pokemon if you look hard enough
To me personally I think its a combination of a thew things
Over all body shape (generally digitigrade with more human limb proportions)
Popularity
Based on animals commonly used in the furry fandom (canines, felines ect.)
But I have seen multiple pokemon which I think fit this definition which often are not generally considered as furry bait
to me mewtwo sticks out as it meets all 3 criteria but isn't really called furry bait
Which brings me on to my next possible definition
Furry bait in regards to pokemon is a buzz word used often as an Insult towards "modern" pokemon design
So to me these are the 3 main ways I see furry bait used by pokemon fans
What will the polls be?
Most of the polls here will range from generic anthro pokemon to more joking picks that do fit the definitions I often get told (sometimes even too well) but never really get lumped in with the list of furry bait pokemon for whatever reason
Polls for now will go live daily at around noon uk time and will stay open for 1 week
I will be avoiding polls on pokemon that are basically always called furry bait or brought up when furry bait is talked about
If you would like to suggest a pokemon for a poll my asks are open but preferably give me a couple reasons why you think that pokemon is or isn't furry bait
Quick update to the ask rules
Please refrain from mentioning nsfw
This list includes but is not limited to
Lucario, lopunny, zoroark, delphox, incineroar, zeraora, cinderace and meowscarada
But at the end of the day this is all just for fun so don't take resuts too seriously
Info about me
This blog is ran by @marcelwasp so you can call me marcel
She/her, 17
I'm a furry who mostly draws anthro bugs and I'm a fan of pokemon
I chose a drizzile as the mascot because I like drizzile and I already had the character so I might aswell use it
Current icon drawn by me
Also I may make some spelling mistakes I am really good at spelling poorly so if you notice something slip through the cracks please let me know
I'm making this sound way more serious and professional then it actually is I'm an autistic teenager with a life long pokemon hyper fixation and way too much time on my hands that started this blog over a joke I made during a discord argument

This is where the testing will happen
I am here to ask
What makes a pokemon "furry bait"
Is it how the pokemon acts is it how the pokemon is shaped or is its purely just down to popularity
Really most pokemon can be considered anthro if you look hard enough
Every pole I do here will have a reason why the selected pokemon could be considered furry bait
And its up to you to decide if it is or not
Poles will go up daily? And around noon uk time
And im gonna try and avoid pokemon that are almost universally regarded as furry bait like lucario or zoroark
And If you have a submission that you want to know is furry bait or not feel free to ask and maybe even give a couple reasons
Remember this is all just for fun and have a good day
Side note I will make a better introduction then this in a couple days once this blog gets a couple poles going but for now this will be it
I think I wanna do some research on a stupid topic
So I'm in a pokemon discord server and the topic of furry bait comes up alot and what pokemon are considered furry bait
personally I hate the term furry bait and how it's used no the multi billion dollar company is not specifically trying to bait furries into playing their game I personally prefer the term highly anthro pokemon as most pokemon are kinda anthro in some way but I will be using the term furry bait for this just because it's what most people use
But from my time in the server most of the pokemon I see get called furry bait are only pokemon that are popular to begin with regardless of the fact that their are other pokemon that are just as anthro which aren't as popular that never get mentioned
So I have made a blog to document my research and conduct poles on we've you yes you think that any one given pokemon
So if you want to take part I'm this experiment check out @is-this-pokemon-furry and it'll be running soon
