Ooo! As a former Ren owner (had to surrender him when I went to college across the country bc the dorms didn't allow pets due to allergy risks and he was unfortunately too high of a percentage Dog to slip past like my cousin's Impulse did) if your local college or high school has a drama troupe, I highly recommend joining and bringing him along. Mine absolutely adored our time there back when I was in high school

A good thing for him would probably be building, especially if he has some materials to draw plans! Make sure he as plenty of room for building and/or redstone!

Rens also typically like talking with other hermits or with you, so it may be best to get another hermit to be with your Ren!

Make sure that he has space to rest, check up on him or have someone else do so, and make sure he has plenty of fluids (as he needs to get it out of his system).

While at times Rendogs do show affection by biting, the previous expert is definitely right in being worried about biting the metallic part, as that could be dangerous for both hermits involved!

If the Ren wants to bite, simply gnawing could be good as it stops there from being a dent in the metal and a crack in this Ren's teeth.

Other than that, it's pretty okay, unless Ren bit because he was aggro. In which case, probably figure out why!!

Okay! Well one of our most normal eldritch Rens has proven to have a kind of mental link with every canid in a 5 mile radius. Was very fun testing that by the way, both for us and the Ren. He's one of our employees at this point, by his own request, because he likes being able to help us when our other Rens when they're too traumatized to speak or even just the regular dogs that come through (we have a few mcyt experts but we actually started out as a regular animal shelter) and in the case of the latter it's always great to have someone who speaks English able to find out what's up with the dogs. We've also been able to call the SPCA on a few abusers since he came in due to him being able to sense the distress the animal was in.

On the other end of the spectrum, when I was in training, my boss told me a story of a Ren that came through a month before i showed up who unfortunately got into some kind of accident around the rift and wound up horribly fused with one of the Grians. He said that was the worst incident he's seen and that they had to put the resulting fusion to sleep as the organs were mashed together in a way very much incompatible with life.

That's a nice story, but I'm very concerned about the fact that the Ren was even able to fuse with a Grian in the first place, and much more so that the Rift was powerful enough to do that. That Rift that you keep mentioning seems like a danger to all mcyts, especially the Hermits.

@is-the-grian-video-cute, I feel like this is very important for you to hear about. If we do not find a way to figure out what's going on with the rift and quarantine it, who knows how many other mcyts could be at risk!

Oh? That weird, maybe it's got something to do with the colony of feral Grians opening a gateway to who the fuck knows where in my local park but I volunteer at my local shelter and like a good 60% of the mcyts we see are eldritch in some way or another.

Like just yesterday we got a particularly Fucked Up Rendog brought in by a hobbyist astronomer who found him on her deck worshipping her telescope. Poor sod had what looked like amethyst crystals growing from his mucous membranes and honestly no one we talked to had any idea how he was still alive with his lungs and throat full of shards of crystal. We're still waiting on some test results but there's no way this is just a regular Ren. My going theory is it's got something to do with this "Nothing" that he keeps murmuring about; every time I ask him about it he strokes the crystals growing from his eyes, but whether it's a disease of some kind or if it's something in his DNA we don't yet know.

Also we've got a few Bdubs and Keralises that have their mouths on their necks because their heads are Just Eyes. They're also completely healthy and happy otherwise but it's. Definitely unnerving.

I have a lot of stories I could tell

I would put as much effort into getting him to open up as possible, he could potentially tell you what happened. You said that he was worshipping the telescope; he might have had a bad interaction with a cult of some kind, and if he did he could likely tell you what happened, or at the very least when it happened.

Doing a DNA test would be a good move, but if the Rendog doesn't trust you it may not be keen on letting you sample some DNA of his. If he is in great distress and starts panicking when you talk about the crystals, you can likely assume that it probably was a traumatic event and certainly not natural. Other researchers of Rendogs or even researchers of other hermits may have more experience with crystals growing in separate parts of your hermit because this is the first time I've come across this sort of scenario.

As for your Bdubses and Keralises, I believe that you should go to @is-the-bdubs-video-cute and @is-the-keralis-thing-cute so that they can tell you more information. Those researchers may be able to tell you more about why that is happening and how to still care for them properly, although it is healthy they might need a different type of care.

Also, some stories would be nice. :)

Most Rens are both either Cyborgs or Hybrids! However, there are types where there is a mixture of the two.

One thing to know is that there has not been a sighting of Eldritch Rens yet.

Mcyt species chart

Human: The more common Mcyt

(can include genderswaps, cyborg, and other human-ish things that don’t fit into the other categories)

Eldritch: A Mcyt with eldritch bits or abilities

If looking at them gives you a headache, and it’s not because they’re annoying, you might have an eldritch on your hands.

Hybrid: Mcyt with hybrid traits

Usually at least some part mob, animal, or other creatures.

All are organized by types. Average and hybrid have type names, sometimes named after their creator, but eldritch is organized by type number.

Ex. “Keralis, Hybrid: Type Peacock”

Ex. “Grian, Hybrid: Type [username]”

Ex. “Joe Hills, Eldritch: Type 02”

You can also get mixes between species and types.

Ex. “Rendog, Hybrid: Type Dog, Average: Type Cyborg”

If you need to fill out papers for them, you usually have to write something like those down somewhere. But if you are unsure what type of Mcyt they are, you can set an appointment with a professional.

When talking about them in a more casual way though, specifics don’t matter as much. A False is a False, and a xB is a xB, regardless of the details. It’s similar to how people might talk about dogs, sometimes they’re curious about the breed, and sometimes they’re not. Simple as that!

However, @is-the-pearl-video-cute, I noticed that your hermit was actively burning in the lava, and that really doesn't look safe!

Rating: Dimension-Breaking, Questionable, and Not Cute

No doubt about it, this is dimension-breaking, this is weird. Really weird.

The reason why this clip is questionable is that while @the-cute-hermit-video-link mentioned the Rendog being scared, I see no sign of the Ren being distressed in any way, he doesn't seem safe... yet he certainly doesn't seem to be in danger.

I will also have to give this a not cute because the storm hurt Ren's ears. Normally, I would just elude this to the Ren having dog-like ears, so he might be more at risk for headaches in general, but it is worse because the other hermits seem to be hurt as well.

He should probably be moved out of there, it could be proper enrichment, but it probably isn't.
