My friend mentioned getting into Pokémon and I was just like oh god no don’t get sucked in 😭 and they didn’t mention it again, but then I realized that they don’t know I’ve been collecting Pokémon on and off since I was a kid so once they find out I’ll just seem like some weird gatekeeper.

People purposely misunderstanding Sydney’s character in The Bear to hate on her for being ‘annoying’ (a black woman who quite literally represents the element of change within the show and who also has her own ambitions) will never not piss me off 😭.

She’s not framed as an antagonist, she’s not even slightly a villain. She has her own problem, yes, she’s not some shiny pure character, that would defeat her whole purpose.

Change is messy and complicated and long. (The Menu process.) Or quick, a blink of an eye. (Her being the first new cook in the restaurant after Carmy takes over)

She pushes our main character to evolve and for some reason* that makes people really uncomfortable

*(some reason: Carmy is a white male chef established to be the best and people hate seeing him questioned even in the realm of fiction because of this, despite his dishes and his general character development improving with help from Syd)
