my favorite thing about fanfic writers is how much we all complain about writing. like it's a thing we do solely for the enjoyment of having created something (because, unlike everything else in this economy, there is no monetary reward) yet we all complain so much.

Fanfic on the big screen:
I wonder if we're going to see more of this in the future, people pushing at what they're allowed to do under copyright law and if eventually that will force the laws to change? And if they do will that be good or bad? Do we want fanfiction to become a profitable mainstream form of media?

Okay but I'm curious as to ppls thoughts on this
So there’s been a couple posts here admonishing first person POV in fics, but the more I think about it the more it pisses me off.
There this post that goes like “Sees the word I: I did nothing. Fuck off”. But, like if your friend was telling you a story and they went “I saw a dog on the street today.” You’re response wouldn’t be “I did nothing fuck off.” Instead there wouldn’t be a reaction like that, because you understand that you’re friend is telling you a story. When they say “I” they mean themselves and not you.
That’s the same way it is in fanfic. It’s the narrator telling you a story about what happened to them. Not someone telling you a story about something that happened to you.
I haven’t seen any sort of post like this about regular creative fiction yet, but if I ever do I will go apeshit.

is it really a jegulus fanfic if there is not:
a) james being called the sun
b) regulus being annoyed at being called reggie/reg/any pet name tbh
c) stargazing at the astronomy tower
d) regulus swearing at james in french
e) screaming, crying, throwing up type of love confession
f) sirius finding out and being a drama queen about it
g) comparison to any type of greek history/mythology event/people that end up in tragedy
