Halebidu is a treasure trove of art from the Hoysala dynasty. Located in Hassan district of Karnataka, the town showcase the culture and architecture from the 12th century. Halebidu, meaning ruined city, was so renamed from Dwarasamudra after Delhi sultanate destroyed the town in the 14th century. The town is situated near Belur and both the towns present tales from Indian epics through unparalleled workmanship of temples. The major parts of the temples are constructed using soapstone, a unique and locally available black stone. One can offer prayers to Lord Shiva, Vishnu and various Jain tirthankars here.
Hoysaleswara Temple: Hoysaleswara temple is one of the three most important landmarks of the Hoysala dynasty, located to the west of the Dwarasamudra lake in Halebidu, Karnataka. Established in the 12th century AD, this Shiva temple comprises of two shrines named after the King and Queen of the dynasty. It wears its history on its walls, in the form of carvings of stories of gods and brave Hoysala soldiers. The temple has been designed and decorated by the famous shilpakar  Kedoraja. 
Jain basadi : Parshvanath, Shantinath and Adinath are three famous Jain Basadis of Halebidu, Karnataka. The three Jain Basadis were built in the 12th century AD under the patronage of the king and the queen of Hoysala, who were followers of the Jain religion. They are named after Jain tirthankaras and house their statues in the inner sanctums. Shiny lathe turned pillars in the mandapas of the temple here are a feature of the Hoysala style. They are situated to the west of Kedareshwar temple within a single complex. 
Kedareswara Temple: Kedareshwara temple is situated in Halebidu, Karnataka. It is popular as an excellent example of the Hoysala architecture. The temple was built by King Ballala II and his wife in the early 13th century. It has amazing carvings of stories from Ramayana, Mahabharata and Bhagwad Gita sculpted on friezes running on its walls. It is evident from the name “Kedareshwara”, (the god of Kedarnath mountain), the temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva.
