Guys it’s ALLLIIIVVEEEE! Battle Princess Peony has launched on Kickstarter today so click on the link to get to it!
Here’s a link to my initial post about it too but in case you don’t want to read it cuz...lazy, so here’s a recap.
Battle Princess Peony is created by Mira Ong Chua, an indie artist who loves to create lgbtq+ stories, specifically lesbian stories that tend to have a supernatural twist. In Battle Princess Peony, the main character is a princess stuck at a school for villains and must act like a villain to graduate since graduation is the only way out. Along the way she realizes her main nemesis isn’t as evil as she once thought. It’s sort of an adventure romance short comic that is sure to be a fun and engaging read. This doesn’t seem to have a supernatural twist but it does seem to have magic and superhero/villain powers.

Boy do I love myself a good hero/villain romance and you get just that and more in Goodbye Battle Princess Peony, an lgbtq+ friendly comic series by creator Mira Ong Chua. She is getting ready to launch her kickstarter for this great comic next week and I will be detailing more information about the campaign and the comic when the kickstarter launches on February 15th. I am very excited about this comic because 1, there’s lesbian romance
Look at them! So cute!
and 2, the story is very interesting and captivated me the moment I read it.
The story is as follows:

OMG! Pine is almost fully funded with only 22 days left to go in the campaign! Check out my post for a link to the game and some more information I dug up about the game.
There’s still a ton of rewards left so it’s not too late to be a backer!

I found this awesome ambitious project on Indiegogo today called Down Hill King which is creator Ben Leunato’s first comic book inspired by his love for 90s anime car culture. It’s more of a thriller though since there are horror elements.
Down Hill King follows the Japanese protagonist, Clint, a sort of hot headed guy, as he takes on a bet for money from another racer. Sadly, Clint’s race turns deadly, resulting in the death of all drivers, and Clint’s girlfriend. Only one person survives and that is Clint, however, the dead have not forgiven him for ending their lives.
So this seems like a fusion of fast and the furious or go speed racer go with a horror plot attached. The reason this comic caught my eye was the font and haunting image of a woman (Clint’s girlfriend I assume) with half her face ripped off. It reminded me of Naoki Urasawa’s Monster manga/anime and that alone made me hope for a psychological thriller, like that manga, for this comic.
The pages are out of order
The art style captures my eye and draws me deeper into the story. It sort of reminds me of some of Junji Ito’s drawings that have the same feeling/technique.
There’s not too many rewards on the indiegogo page, just a digital version of the book and a physical version for rewards.
Sadly, the project only has 3 days left and may not get enough funding in that amount of time. It breaks my heart because I can feel the love and passion the creator has for this comic. I just wish I had found this sooner to put the word about it out to everyone to hopefully help it become a success.

Coral Island Romance
So the devs for Coral Island gave an update on the 4th sharing some more details on the romance options in the game. Apparently there are 16 eligible bachelors/ bachelorettes on Coral Island just waiting for us to sweep them off their feet! I am more than glad to do just that~
I think Noah is my favorite so far. he’s so sweet and takes care of his mom! I won’t get too attached to him though since there are more romance options that will be shown later on in future updates. And apparently the fandom (yes we officially are beginning to have a fandom now) is loving Noah and Yuri the most so far on the update page.
Yuri seems super cool and gives me lesbian or bi vibes. Am I the only one here who hopes these vibes are proven right?
What I also love about this update is that it seems like the devs are dropping hints for ways to romance these characters because their descriptions mention places they love to go to and their likes/dislikes.

First The little Captain and now Pine for stories about loss and grief. 2020 seems to have really inspired this theme to pop up in creative media this year in 2021. Pine is an ambitious interactive game that plays more like a visual novel if a visual novel was also more of an animated film. The story follows the woodworker, who you play as, as he struggles to come to terms with the loss of his wife as he tries to push forward in life. The animated short in the kickstarter immediately gave me goosebumps and I felt the tears coming while watching. The creators are so passionate, in fact, they created their studio Made Up Games specifically for this game. Pine is a personal game that expresses the grief creator and illustrator Tom Booth (Website, Twitter, Instagram) went through in his own life.
It seems like this game is planned to release on Steam as well as on ios and android phones.
If you love meaningful stories and interactive gameplay, this game might be for you. it sure seems it’s the game for me. There is still 26 days left to go in the campaign and I sure hope this game is one that succeeds.
This amazing figure of the Woodworker, by Ismael Nieto (@ismaflcl) which will be hand painted by Tom, is included as one of the rewards.

So as I was cruising through Kickstarter tonight, this children’s book caught my eye because of the amazing drawing, illustrated by Yori Narpati. (Instagram, Twitter, Website)
“The little Captain is a 40 page illustrated story-book. It’s about grappling to hold onto the things we’ve lost and searching for answers to things that are not easily explained. It's the story of a young boy named Wilkie who lives with his family on a ship until one day he is snatched by the sea and taken on a harrowing journey as he fights to find his way back to them.Though the story does not culminate in a classic fairytale resolve, a remnant of hope is buoyed by the echoes of a lost memory.” (Quoted from the Kickstarter)
Not only do I want to highlight this book for the amazing story/ message it is trying to tell, but also for the heartbreaking story behind its’ creation. The story, written by Lindley Joyner, was made after he lost his seven-month old son in 2018. It was written in the hope that Lindley could help others work through their grief as other grief books have helped him and his family. I believe this book is for people of all ages, from all walks of life and will be a great read. I look forward to reading it asap if the kickstarter is funded. There is 19 days left in the Kickstarter with plenty of rewards left so please go support this amazing project if you can! And if you can’t do it with money, sharing it to friends and family will help as well. I really want this book to be made.
Btw, I am loving the character designs from Yori. They are so fun and pleasing to look at!

Guys I am VERY excited for this farming sim game! It’s supposed to have a very modern twist on the classic farming sim games we all know and love like Stardew Valley and Harvest Moon. This game definitely gives me Stardew Valley vibes, especially with the relationships you make with the townies. Now, this game goes a step further in stating that there may be the ability to have children with townies!
But wait THERE”S MORE! There is so much diversity in this game which vastly differs from old farming sims and I couldn’t be happier. Pretty much every ethnic group is in this game and is available when customizing your character. It also seems like you can fish, duel npcs and customize your home.
Male Character Customization
Female Character Customization
Environment still picture
Character romance (left image) and dueling (right image)
Now I’m not sure if the game is lgbtq+ friendly because I haven’t seen anything about same-sex romance or any other romance besides heterosexual mentioned on the page but I assume there will be lgbtq+ characters since the devs seem to really care about diversity.
The game has been fully funded but still has 26 days left to go in the Kickstarter so grab yourself a copy of the game and the fun rewards that come with it before it’s too late! I am very optimistic about this game and hope it is successful with releasing to Steam as Stairway Games have promised. I will post updates about the game’s progress on this blog as I will do with any Indie game I am watching/ looking forward to.
