Occasionally I get the idea that I should share my own photography here. I took this photo of Hollister Peak, near Morro Bay, California in maybe 2018? The photo almost gives me the vibes akin to Rural Japan - what do you think?

I’m excited to share my latest: an 85-minute House Music mix. This time I tried my hand at mixing house music with a distinctly old school vibe. I think the oldest track is 2005, but many range from 2009-2011 but there's some new releases too. In the past 15 years I've never strayed far from Techno but life is nothing without evolution and change. So here's a straight up, Panorama Bar style house mix. Hope you like it!
tracklist:
Soundstream - All Night
Midland - Final Credits
Nebraska - This Is The Way
Eddie C - All Time Freak
Jordan Peak - Disco Nights
Axel Boman - Nattsudd
Eddie C - Deepa
Tradelove - Lets Party
Sean Biddle - I Wanna Be With You (Fierce City Remix)
Turntable Mafia - Forbidden Groove
Jo Paciello - Love Sax and Disco Rhodes
Teddy Wong - Jazzy Hands
David Penn - Ocean Drive (Open Your Mind) feat. Monia Amore (Vocal Mix)
Dee Gorgeous - Better Than Sex (Dirty Channels Edit)
Mauro M.B.S. - Philosophy Of Dance (Deep Dark Jungle)
19-Reboot - Enjoy Music (Riva Starr Remix)
Michael Gray - The Weekend (Extended Vocal Mix)

What a waste of a Friday night, met a beautiful woman with her hair straight, we had a great conversation, or so I thought, and then I realized, oh no, I didn’t ask a single question! I looked down and realized, oh nooo, I was wearing FUGLY jeans! I don’t deserve a woman like her! 😭

Popehat pointed me to this distinctly Orwellian transcript from a federal court case, in which the defendant, who wants to plead guilty, asks if she has to affirm in the plea agreement that her public defender did an adequate job when he’d actually missed all their meetings, missed key court deadlines, and couldn’t answer questions about what she was charged with:
The Defendant: What I meant to say is that at the end of the plea, it says that I have to submit and say I have been … that “I am satisfied that my defense attorney has represented me in a competent manner,” … I don’t want – I’m scared to go to trial because I don’t think that he’s going to, you know, put a fight for me. Your Honor, he didn’t submit any pretrial motions at all.
… Do I have to have the clause in there about my attorney? [referring to the part of the plea colloquy where she’s asked if she’s satisfied with her attorney's representation]
[Prosecutor]: Yes. You’re asking me?
The Court: Yes, you do. Who are you asking?
The Defendant: Just – I don’t know.
The Court: Well, you turned to [the prosecutor]. That’s part of [Federal Rule of Criminal Procedure] 11, ma’am, because you have to be satisfied with the representation and understand the terms and conditions of your plea agreement.
But in terms of satisfied with the representation, it doesn’t mean – There’s – In terms of competent representation, it doesn’t mean that [your public defender] has to look at and touch every single aspect of the case. If [the prosecutor] reached out to [your public defender] and said, okay, count number one and count number ten, which happen to be what we’re seeking your client’s guilty plea on, here’s the discovery information that directly relates to Count 1 and Count 10. If he reviews that, that’s a diligent lawyer who’s doing what he’s supposed to be doing.
…
The Defendant: Why is it the fact that even if I’m willing to take the plea, that clause about him, about my attorney? Why do I have to submit to the fact that he competently, you know, advised me in the matter?
The Court: Rule 11, there’s certain things that must happen if a person says I wish to plead guilty. As part of Rule 11, you have to believe that your lawyer is competent and has represented you properly.
The Defendant: Your Honor, I don’t believe that, but at the same time I’m scared to go to trial with him because I don’t think that he’s going to do me justice.
The judge says that if she doesn’t want to go to trial and probably get life in prison, she has to plead guilty, and she’s not allowed to plead guilty until she affirms that she was competently advised by her counsel. If she will not agree that she was competently advised, it goes to trial, and her trial lawyer will be the one who missed meetings with her and a life sentence is on the line.
She affirms that she was competently advised by her counsel.
The whole thing is just nightmarish, but to me the most nightmarish bit is that it was over a marijuana dealing operation. She was facing life in prison, she got 121 months with the plea, this whole charade of a just system charaded along, over her boyfriend growing and selling weed.
So, uh, have your usual reminder that fuck the American criminal justice system.

I made this mix recently, my first in 7 years. It has one mistake near the end, I touched the keylock button accidentally, but the result is a nice mood lift so I decided to keep it. The best aspects of creation come from mistakes, so I'm allowing myself some errors so that I may have room to grow. It's house & techno, with inspirations from many different artists throughout the electronic scene. From Adam Beyer to Peggy Gou, from Heidi Lawden to Avalon Emerson, all their immaculate vibes hopefully inspired my own. My goal is to create these on a regular cadence, but one step at at a time! For today, I hope you enjoy this 77 minutes or so of music.
tracklist:
1: Dievo Sodas - Vejopatis
2: Momentum (original mix) - Roy Rosenfeld
3: Warg - Recondite
4: Wildwood (Deeparture Remix) - Alex Pich
5: In The Light (Dirty Döring Remix)- Lena
6: Samara - Paul Deep (AR) & Nicolas Ruiz
7: Selkirk Grace (original mix) - Juanma Sanchez & Ruben Zurita
8: In Chicago (Danny Avila Extended Remix)- John Summit
9: Euphoria - Oovation
10: New York FM (Richie Blacker's Acid Cosmos Remix) - Breeder
11: Roads Under Ramallah (Namito Wants His Vote Back Mix)- Sultan + Shepard
12: The Darkness That You Fear (Original Mix) - The Chemical Brothers

When I was 18 I took a ballet class at college and every morning our beginner adult class started just as the Ballet Majors in the studio next door took a mid-class break.
Many mornings they would gather in the doorway of my classroom and watch us struggle through our bar warmups or jumble up a new technique while they smiled and whispered to each other.
And every morning I dreaded seeing them there because I knew they were making fun of me.
I had other classes with some of them, and I was always embarrassed when ballet came up, and it always did, them being ballet majors, because I loved to talk about it but knew they’d seen me dance, and I was sure they thought I didn’t belong in the conversation.
At the end of the semester, our instructor announced that she’d like to invite the dancers from the next door studio to sit in on our final performance as an audience, and everyone in my class hesitated. We’d worked so hard, we wanted to celebrate our progress during our final without being judged. Most of us left class that day suddenly more anxious about the final than we’d ever been.
The next morning, in one of my other classes I had with the ballet majors, one of them approached me, and as if she’d been reading our minds the entire semester, she said
“Hey. I just wanted to say that I know we watch you guys dance a lot, and I wanted to make sure you know we’re never laughing at you. When we watch you guys learn the basics…..it reminds us of when we first started when we were younger. It’s like…looking at ourselves when we first fell in love with dancing. That’s why we love watching you guys.”
It shocked me. I felt awash with relief and utterly stupid all at once.
Here I had spent an entire semester assuming the worst of people who had otherwise been nothing but nice to me in every other setting, and I had no one to blame for that but my own insecurities that I’d allowed to rule me for months.
I’d been so unfair to these girls, because I was self conscious. I was so worried about being judged that I’d judged all of them.
Here I was worried they were laughing at me, and all along they were looking at me with nothing but absolute delight, even envy for what I was getting to experience.
This encounter changed my entire attitude, permanently.
It made me realize that, yeah sometimes people are jerks for no reason, but more often than not, people really are just….Good.
Since that day, I’ve started giving everyone the benefit of the doubt until they prove me wrong, for their sake and for my own.
And I’ve learned that the world becomes a lot better and life becomes a lot easier when you accept that maybe not everyone is judging you. Maybe you’re the one who’s hardest on yourself.
Let yourself be. Let yourself exist and breathe and be happy.
The world is a much better place.

A small PSA to all those new to dealing with the porn bots that Tumblr now has a fresh wave of – I understand that when you go to report them, you want to report them as "[containing] sexually explicit material", but don't do that. Report them as spam instead.
These are spam bots flooding tags and the website in general with spam links. They often do not have anything sexually explicit on their blog (although they often have implicit material). Plus, these two reports get very different results. Reporting explicit material gets the bot slapped behind an 18+ wall, so minors can't check if they're a bot or not. Reporting spam gets the bot taken down.
Remember, folks: when dealing with a bot, report spam, not smut!

On the one hand, not having a Speaker of the House is indicative of very serious issues in the American populace. It shows a divisive political dialogue and a country in crisis. The last two times this happened both preceded horrible periods of disruption in our country by about 10 years, the Great Depression and the Civil War. So it's not a great look and does make one nervous about what is coming down the pipe On the other hand it is genuinely so fucking funny

Finally listening to the Ethel Cain album, and god damn it is so good. The vibes are perfect and she was clearly inspired by all the things I love.
