summer 2023
what’s happened so far
A grueling yet enjoyable summer job carries on
Been taking more walks lately, it’s been a strangely cool summer and I intend to take advantage of it
Reading more than during the school year. Daughters of the New Year by E.M. Tran was a heart wrencher and I cannot recommend it enough
Met my grad school mentor, she’s lovely
Got adopted by a cat, happy to be her second home and her owner doesn’t mind in the least (not that she could stop her if she did. She’s very persistent)
what’s still to come
A (hopefully annual) summer visit from a good friend
More plants! Just picked up a new planter off the curb
More books, just started Our Wives Under the Sea by Julia Armfield
More time with friends and more adventures to find come July and August
I hope summer is treating you well

June 26, 2023 || Summer Break
Local girl continues to not prioritize posting on social media. Its the summer before my internship (we matched babyyyyyyy) and so I'm trying to balance reviewing material relevant to working with children and adolescents with engaging in the hobbies I love. This pattern is from @/needlesandneurons on Instagram and Etsy. It's for my supervisor, a neuropsychologist.
I'm still thinking of how, if at all, I want to continue having a presence on social media. I like being able to look back on my academic journey but I don't want to spend too much mental energy on curating posts, creating content, etc. But it's fun to post whatever and whenever these days.
Thanks for reading :)

December 2022
Howdy. I haven’t posted in what feels like forever. Still a graduate student studying clinical psychology. I’m in my fourth year and starting to wondering what the shift from student to clinician will look like in a few years…
With that in mind, some fun updates:
- Decided my dissertation topic (and PROPOSED!!!!???)
- Started working in various community mental health settings
- Learned that I really enjoy neuropsychology (not enough to fully commit but enough to continue pursuing training in assessment)
- Passed competency exams
At this point I’m not sure what to use this page for. When I study it’s not aesthetic and I don’t have the time nor desire to pose everything how I used to LOL. However, becoming a clinical psychologist comes with lifelong learning AND I’m starting to bullet journal again so I’m sure I can find other content to post :)

Men are gonna come along and wanna teach you things. Doesn’t make them any smarther. In most ways, they’re not, but it makes them feel bigger. They can show you how things are done. You just let them blow by, and you go on ahead, and do just what the heel you feel like. It takes a strong woman to stay by herself, in a world that people will settle for anything, just to say they have something.

so I guess my 100 days of productivity are long over. I may have fell off the wagon with posting but it went extremely well. Now I use Farsi more and particularly when I want to tell my partner something low key but only want him to understand when we’re in public/among non-Farsi speaking people. It’s been quite fun and fairly useful in that regard. Still, I continue to learn everyday, just in smaller bouts, reviewing anki and watching Farsi videos, but it was an awesome exercise in diligence. I start grad school in a few weeks so hopefully I can transition this diligence into practice for school again.

28.03.2021 // finally finished my three assessments due tomorrow!! currently starting on my next essay.
Day 26- What has been your best zoomester experience so far?
nothing specific but i love those moments in breakout rooms when everyone is like “i don’t actually know what’s going on” and then we end up talking about memes or politics or something equally as irrelevant
Day 27- If you’re about to graduate, what’s something that you’ll miss from school? If you aren’t about to graduate, tell us something you really love about school.
as nerdy as this sounds i really love learning about things from and with people who are even more passionate about them than i am
Day 28- Spill the tea about the things that you’ve done during the zoomester (Online shopping, courses taken, any hobby)
i’ve been getting into the sims 4 again after like three years of not playing, practising chess, not much else really

going over some old story notes before my work conference call! i’m still working remotely, which has been wonderful for my mental health. i have two six month old kittens who keep me company, climbing onto my desk chair and stealing my muji pens, and i get to put on whatever music i like and just chill and work and edit… i’m very fortunate to be in this situation. i hope everyone who reads this is also doing well - if you ever want me to send you photos of my kittens to cheer you up, send me a message ♡

Dec. 15, 2020 || Finals Week
Heyyyy it’s me and I keep forgetting to post
For an assignment we had to use a vignette to diagnose a client and as I was looking up alcohol use disorder, my second coffee of the day whispered to me and asked if I could look up caffeine withdraw. I told my coffee “no, you’re here to help me avoid that”
Anyway, I’m using social media to procrastinate nowadays. Hope ya’ll are doing okay in this pandemic.
I post on my story a lot: @ily_studies

wednesday 05.08.20 // a while
It’s been a while since the last time that I sat down in a cafe to work on something for university. My job at the landscape architecture office is going great and now I only need to finish my masters thesis and then I’m finally done with university 🥳
