I think there's a certain wholeness to ones identity when you dream lucidly. Theres this deep subconscious pysche that is hidden from even ourselves and gets freed. No ones really ever free to do what they want in life there's always something holding you back be it: consequences, morals, family, responsibilities or something entirely different. But when you dream in a state of control and awareness that you're dreaming you might find out new things about your soul and what it wants. I think for me at least anyway it's an outlet to be free and true to myself, I think it's scary to find out what you're capable of when you know there's no consequences or rational thinking. Freedom is in sleep , for me at least.
