This one truly took so long to paint 😭The video recording of the process took 10 sessions instead of the usual 3.
But I'm really happy with how it turned out! I've always loved the impressionist art style above all other oil painting styles, so it's been a blast studying the works of Monet and modern impressionists, and adding my own touch to the skies as well.
The full res image, painting process, and pphotoshop files will be part of July's Patreon rewards!
Here for my once a year tumblr dash perusal and to say that I am currently a little bit obsessed with The Double.
How can you not have fun with a witty, astute, beautiful heroine using her rage to power through all obstacles and bring all her wrongdoers to justice, while also engaging in delightful mutual flirtation with the powerful, beautiful hero who tells her he's using her and her quest for his own political purposes, but is shown as basically on call for every single thing she needs at every single moment. This is a lead couple gender dynamic I can always get behind!
Gorgeous costumes, artistically over the top emotionally climactic moments, an amazingly fun villainness, dramatic winds indoors, a thunderstorm to underline every one of the worst moments, it's got it all.
Every time I come back to tumblr something looks totally different. Unlike twitter, it doesn't make me quite as annoyed bcs some of the changes are just silly but not based on a criminally rich man-child's personal tantrums, but maybe also says something about how I need to come back way more frequently.
Rereading the Retrograde Series by LTLJ and The Jenny Code by Domenika Marzione and remembering how intensely I loved being in SGA fandom for a long time, feels like it was decades ago. Also remembering what a hankering I had for Sheppard in heroic peril ensemble fics, but that came hand in hand with the series itself honestly.
I think the John pic I drew for LTLJ's story might have been my first fanart ever, idk where all that fanart urge has gone now, but at least the fics are still around to reread.
