so i haven’t worked out much in terms of the deep history of her family but she grew up without much of it

they were the average family, winnie had a pretty normal life - two parents and two kids and they were as happy as can be in hartford, on the outside

her parents were involved heavily in intertwined crimes of fraud, embezzlement, and more. they were a duo, and when one got arrested or sued for something, the other was never far behind 

because of this, winnie and her sibling were left to be raised by various nannies while her parents were constantly in and out of the picture 

she moved moved out as soon as she turned 18, deciding that she was better on her own than with her toxic parents

as an 18 year old without any real life or work experience, winnie ventured down the wrong path and started selling drugs to people in town 

she’s pretty much a lone wolf

damien grew up in a pretty run down neighbourhood in the south of chicago with his mom and dad who were very much in love for the first ten years of his childhood

life was hard growing up without much and damien can recall having to dig through the couch cushions for money when the lights went out because his parents hadn’t made enough to pay the bill on time

while damien remained hopeful, his parents’ relationship began to fall apart before his eyes. the poverty was affecting both of his parents in ways that he couldn’t understand

when his dad grew sick, it took even more f a toll. damien’s mom claimed to be “hard at work” and he believed it. he was happy that his mom was working so hard and hopeful that one day they would be able to move into one of the nicer houses that some of his classmates lived in

when his mother was caught having an affair, damien’s parents split up, leaving him alone to care for his father at the age of 14

damien wore hand-me-downs from the other boys in his neighbourhood and took a liking to basketball, which he would often skip school to play with his friends

dropping out of high school in his junior year to work full time to support his dad wasn’t easy on him, but he always thought it was necessary. 

ok … so cue the blow up ! damien was noticed and drafted by the bulls at the age of 19, where he played for a year before getting badly injured to the point where they were not able to re-sign him. 

after this incident and his dreams are pretty much crushed, damien and his dad move to washington to settle down in a more quaint setting 

he’s recently gotten his GED and is taking college classes on a basketball scholarship. he’s still trying to heal from his injury, and isn’t the player he used to be, but is determined to get back to where he was.
