AAAAH DANG IT I GOT SWEATY EYES AND MY CHEST FELT HEAVY
Quick history lesson: back in the early 2000's, TVXQ (that is, when they were 5 members) was the biggest Asian artist. No one matched the heights they were reaching that time. In fact, they had the most number of fanclub memberships (Cassiopeia was the fanclub name) that they got a guiness world record for it, back in the day. THAT WAS THE TIME BEFORE SOCIAL MEDIA, so that was a huge feat back then. When the split happened, my only sources were online news articles (literally) translated to English by fans. I remember vividly seeing a scanned copy of their slave contract as it was made publicly in the court proceedings and a fan translation of it in a forum (those were the days, kids). And yeah, in case it isnt obvious, I was a Cassiopeia (not as an official member because there is no way for overseas fans to join back then, like how it is now in Weverse) since 2006, when they started getting busy with their activities in Japan.
Hearing Junsu and Jaejoong talking now about those times back then made me feel so many things that I can't describe coherently.
I cried when they split up because these 5 big brothers of mine felt so much more than just music artists to me. I enjoyed their music (they did a wide variety of genre back then, from ballad acapellas to EDM, check out their discography from 2004-2009), but their variety shows and interviews felt so human. They were honest hearted and down to earth boys, and you can feel the passion they have for their music. They love what they are doing and they love their group and their members, and it just all comes through the screen. To think that this is before korean artists have social media to connect with their international fans. Vlive isnt even a thing back then. Well meaning fans rip their dvds or tv guestings, make hard subs, then upload it on a shared folder (4shared i remember you) and share the link in forums. That was how their content reach international fans because international fans were not catered to back then.
Utube was starting to boom (i remember those long videos split into 20 different parts lmao "part1/20" in the title like that), just a couple of years before their split in 2009 (they stopped activities in 2010 but the news of their split broke out in 2009)
Getting information was so so so hard back then for international fans that all we had was info disseminated by k-media. You had to do your own filtering by understanding the story that these articles are painting out. There was never any official statements that you can trust from the artists' side because there's just none lmao. They couldn't just stand in front of a camera and say their piece in front of everybody like how easy it is now. Back then, it was always through someone that these articles quote the artists.
I remember what Junsu said here that people pity them when they left SM, BECAUSE K-MEDIA MADE IT SEEM LIKE THEY WERE STRUGGLING. That was what I read too. But then, I would see something from tabloids (as in paparazzi) about Jaejoong's 4 or 5 luxury sports cars 😂
I felt triumphant in a way when Junsu said that things were actually 100 times better when they left SM 😂
Yaaas go tell them bro! 😂
That's how you can tell how huge they made it back then, to be able to earn so much more even after leaving the TVXQ brand name. Even after losing those SME promotions. Even after being shadowbanned in their own country, although they won the lawsuit.
Quick FYI: their case was so bad that their government had to step in and make a law that forbids agencies to put out contracts of more than 7 years 🙃 they literally made it possible for k-artists these days to have better contract terms and working environment.
For some reason, this confirmation from Junsu and thinking about the aftermath of the split, made me feel bitter about Yunho and Changmin choosing to side with the company. Back then, they said they wanted to keep the TVXQ legacy because they were afraid that name would be gone if they give up too. And i felt touched when they said that during interviews.
Now I say what a load of BS 😂
(while it was radio silence for the other 3 members because u know SME made it impossible for them to appear on national tv)
Yunho and Changmin imo did not simply see any future without SME (and if i think about it, these two were from well-off families unlike the other three who were from very humble backgrounds). These two's mentality were stuck in that well they lived in. They just weren't that confident in their talents, and in their own fans like the Jaejoong, Junsu and Yoochun are. Yunho and Changmin knew they would encounter struggles and friction despite their Biggest Asian Artist fame if they leave SME. IMO, they simply love and care about themselves more than their own members who were hurting in the working conditions they have, literally hurting in health and in finances (imagine how small they were earning then if Junsu said it was 100x times better when they left!). It seems to me they hyperfocused on the struggles they can see in the horizon without thinking what they would keep and then gain in return, a 100x times better as Junsu said.
JYJ were painted as greedy back then in the duo's interview but now, it seems the duo were just selfish. They didn't think about the other three they would hurt by siding with their abuser, their fans who would get hurt with their split, the future artists they would indirectly hurt by standing up for a company who literally abuses its artists, and lastly, the TVXQ name, fame and music that will never be back to its former peak and glory.
(Like suddenly it made so much more sense to me when Jungkook refused to sing BTS songs during one of his lives because he wanted to sing them only when they are all back together. Now I have a better understanding of his words.)
At the same time, I am feeling so so so happy that JYJ stuck together (that is, until Yoochun turned to drugs 🙃) with their decision, pulled through and persevered despite struggles (while made things better for everyone else in their industry, imagine that), and are now very successful artists still doing what they love in their 40's.
I am still hurt about the TVXQ split whenever it comes across my mind or when something reminds me of it. But that has changed after seeing Jaejoong and Junsu talk about how things were for them back then, and seeing how they are now.
No longer hurt but still bitter of the fact the LSM and SME broke apart the musical "beast" that was supposedly to continue to bless our ears. (I believe) Everyone should do themselves a favor and listen to LIVE ACAPELLA performances these men put out during their peak. 5 member group who are all lead vocalists who can stand on their own, with different vocal colors, that sound like an entire symphony when they sang together. I sincerely believe they are a phenomenon that happens only every 1000 years. Your music experience isn't complete if you have not heard even just one live acapella by them (specially those ones where they were in a semi circle with only one mic)
Quick trivia: their ballads are so difficult, there are only a handful of covers by younger artists, and none of it ever topped or even matched the original. Look up "Love in the Ice", for your own good, believe me 😂
I believe TVXQ, when there were 5 members, were a blessing to music in general, and it's a shame that we are stuck with only about 5 years worth of discography from them and no more.

Case in fact: TVXQ's artist bio in Apple Music has that "misinformation via twisted truths" tone, till this day in the year 2025 and it makes me laugh and angry at the same time.

"For profits" - yeah, like better contract terms and working conditions, hell yeah call it 'profits' then but there is a better term for that you know.
"three rebels" - dang it, in this day and age, who calls them "rebels" when details of that lawsuit has been made public??? A more neutral term is deserved since the law sided with them, you know???

Everyone on this thread is losing their shit that this men-dominated world (in-game) is being direct with the gay interactions.
The protagonist is a man of renown talents in war so everyone, literally both men and women, express their admiration for him and some men are being flirty to the point of dropping sexual innuendos here and there. One day I will get back to this post and provide the screenshots from the game lmao
What I found hilarious (even funnier than the words of affection that the protag hears from male officers), is that somehow a lot of people are zeroing on the male interactions that were clearly more than just simple admiration (like literally some were just asking the protag to be their study buddy while others were asking for private time alone with him).
The ladies in the game were dropping innuendos too, followed by a fade-to-black screen which makes you think that the protag got some action behind doors, AND THE LADIES ARE VERY DIRECT about it and too fast (imo). But somehow its the men who did the same to the protag that gets the special callout.
Maybe the dev team were meaning to have a female protag as an option from the start and decided to ditch it due to time constraints BUT STILL. The fact remains that these interactions were kept as if the dev team were thinking "why not" and decided that the male and female interactions get the same treatment.
Maybe the dev team was not worried about this move at all because they know majority of players would be women (love and deepspace is a testament to that-- women love to play combat-heavy games) who wouldn't be bothered by it at all.
Maybe the dev team thought men dishing out words of affection and admiration to the same sex is nothing out of the ordinary back in the day (han dynasty in ancient china), so male interactions in the game don't need to follow some convention other than what was supposed to be happening anyway, in that time and place.
Just enjoy the game, would ya?
#not me having a pseudo think piece about a game based on romance of the three kingdoms#dont mind me

Not me feeling like going around and telling people that kind of man isnt completely in fiction only lmao
But if i think about it, certain conditions have to be met for that kind of man be a reality.
(Commence, relating my ex's environment and family situation lol)
Growing up in a family where the parents are almost non-existent pushed him to mature quickly and learn how to take care of his 3 younger siblings as the eldest child (2 younger sisters and a little bro; one sister 4 yrs younger, next is 8, little bro is 9 yrs younger). Parents only show up to give money to spend and its up to him to budget it for a week (grocery shopping, allowances etc.) They have a helper who's with them from 5am to 5pm on weekdays. I remember the times i watched him in the kitchen, preparing his siblings' packed lunch tomorrow so that the helper will only have to cook it in the morning and that at least he gets to sleep in (yeah, most of our "dates" is me going to their house because he has responsibilties at home lol)
So that's how he became proficient in household chores. His circumstances required him to be. Taking care of his younger siblings I bet, also drove him to be attentive to other's needs, and learned how to "listen" to their actions to understand what's going on with them (you know how kids usually never directly share and oh yeah i listened to how he talked to his siblings plenty of times, when they got home from school lol).
His parents' situationship i think also contributed. The mom owns and manages a humble restaurant and is home 2-3 days a week at night to check in on them. The dad is barely home, drops in once a week, to give money. Mom and dad never see each other at home except for that rare chance they drop in on the same day. It has not always been like this. When it was just him and his younger sister, they were a picture perfect family (or it seemed to him). He only noticed their parents drifting apart as his younger sister grew up. He was in highschool when he followed his dad to a house he presumes to be the place where his dad stays in when he isnt home. He discovered that his mom is having an affair with a worker in their restaurant where she spends the night.
His mom has cried to him about his dad's affair countless nights over the years (the dad had an affair first) and he used to encourage her to get a divorce instead of living like this. His mom decided to just turn a blind eye for her kids.
I would think that he learned to be so organized to bring some sense of order in his chaotic life at home.
The other traits? Oh, he is simply gifted in the intellectual aspect lmao
He has a very sharp memory and above average IQ too i bet. I mean, if he can manage to score high in exams (1 or 2 mistakes only) for a major subject (we were bio majors) without attending lectures (attendance wasnt an issue in our university) and get by with self study, doesn't it make him a genius kinda? 😆

I would like to thank all those people online who, in their innocent comments about Mr Yu, made me realize I have had a Mr Yu in my life once and made me remember those tumultous days of my life 😂
#for reference its that part of my life where i decided to let go of my full scholarship and transfer to a different university and major#to get out of a relationship#that took me about 3 years to finally quit in every sense of the word lmao#i got out 2009 and only was able to completely let it go in 2012/2013 😂#what am saying?#in plain words#i broke it off and distanced myself completely but still kept in touch and kept meeting up AND INTIMATE MYGOODNESS PAST ME#for the next 3 years after officially breaking it off#now let me find a way to take these forgotten memories out of my head lmao#its been so long but these comments i saw made me reminisce the past lmao#it tells me that when i watched love scout mr yu didnt trigger these memories at all so it seems i have indeed put that past behind me#but somehow when i saw people asking if a man like that can exist or be real#my mind immediately jumped up and said yes#now these memories have gripped my mind for two nights now oh no#and then im reminded how it was like this too back then when i cant function because when we fight he hijacks the forefront of my mind

If you think about it, Mr Yu can do those things (other than the fact he is a single dad who had to learn household chores) because he is these things:
Very observant. Attention to detail is *chef's kiss*
Has a very sharp or very good memory.
These two quirks alone is a deadly combination. He picks up or notices every little thing she said and did, and tucks it away in the little corner of his mind -- nay, he files it all in an imaginary special binder about you, tagged and organized even, -- and has no problem recalling each little thing. Now these next things "weaponize" this deadly combo. He is armed with information about her and can:
Think very well how that information can help him do things to cater to her. In other words, plan stuff around you to satisfy your needs and wants and,
Anticipate what your needs and wants are. Doing exactly what you need or want before or even without asking him.
Now in the show, these traits are depicted in a way to make your heart flutter lmao (of course, it will make anyone's heart flutter, unless you are a stone duh)
But irl, a man with these traits and capable of these things can, not only make your heart flutter, but he can also do many other things that can break your heart 😂
No this isnt fanfic, this is me talking about personal experience because I was once in a relationship have met a Mr Yu in my life. You wanna know how that same sweet, attentive and capable man like that can hurt you too?
Now recall that first two bullet points. Very observant and has a very sharp memory. He learns about you to the point that he knows you more than you know yourself. Now add in the last two bullet points. He can not only use those things he knows to cater to you, he now also knows very well what buttons to push. He knows how to give you exactly what you need or want even when you dont say it and he knows how to take what he needs or wants from you, even when you dont want to give it or do it.
He wants you to meet his parents but you dont want to? Oh no worries, he knows how to put you in a time and place you will inevitably meet his parents whether you want to or not. And you will be in that time and place, without you knowing it or realizing it until its too late because he knows you, oh so well.
(No i am not going to share exactly how that happened to me because I would be giving away too much about myself here lmao)
You think that's really nothing at all? Well you're right. He can do so much worse more.
(I will stop here and just leave it to your imagination because i dont want to share too much about myself here to the point you can know its me lol i know im not making sense maybe)
So yeah, as long as Mr Yu has a healthy mind and upright attitude always, he will only be inclined to use his talents to make your heart flutter and nothing else. 😂
OKAY SO I HAVE ENOUGH of seeing people saying "how can he (Mr Yu from Love Scout) be real??" Or "does a man like this exist at all?! lmao"
YES. A man who is very house husband material, very organized, very attentive to your needs and can anticipate your needs is not completely in fiction only.
They do exist but they're very rare because in my 35 years on earth, I have only known and met one (my ex)
Let me tell you one (actually the most memorable and impactful instance out of many) thing my ex did that is very Mr Yu branded imo (and why an ex now and what possible other side this type of "very romantic" or "hubby material" actions or traits depicted in romantic dramas like Love Scout doesn't show)
This is back when we weren't even in a relationship yet lol, imagine that. (2nd yr, 1st sem in university if you must know)
So its lec/lab exam day. My major subjects (bio major) have lecture and lab, separate sessions with different exams. That day I was hit by one of my worse dysmenorrhea days. I could barely stand while we go around the stations spaced out in rows of long tables (which are the test questions itself in a lab exam, like that exam was about naming particular bones in different animal skeletons displayed in each station like a frog's etc.)
As soon I finished, I got out and went straight to the chair right next to the door in the hallway and sat down. I saw him standing on the other side of the hallway, directly opposite of me, and brisk walked his way to me as I sit down.
I said, "i'm gonna rest for a minute here, you go down first", I think he wanted to say something but stopped (you know that look). He left anyway and I watched him go down the stairs. (There is this unspoken agreement between us to go together in classes we both attend, we were buddies of some sort at this point, i might expand on this part later lmao)
Because next is our lecture exam in the room right below the 2nd floor's lab room and if you are late, the prof would not let you in (she closes the door when its time to start the exam). There was a high chance i am gonna be late because theres only less than 10 minutes before the lec exam starts and my legs still feel like jello because of the pain. But i think the prof would make an exception for me at least... i hope so...
And then he was back, standing in front of me, holding out a bottle of water and a painkiller (mefenamic acid) and a sanitary napkin to me.
Even though I was in a world of hurt (lmao), my mind cant help but write a big "what" in front of me (lmao) with "how in the hell did he know" right below it.
In my pain addled brain, I heard him say to take the painkiller already and go to the rest room. I took the painkiller but refused to go the rest room because I dont think I need to.
A few minutes have passed in silence, then he said the pain killers not probably going to take effect that fast and then kneeled in front of me and turned his back, telling me to get on.
Even though I was in a world of hurt (lmao), my mind cant help but write a big "what" in front of me (lmao) AGAIN
Its truly a wonder that I still could think about anything at all despite the pain lmao
I initially refused because i dont think he can carry me on his back through two flight of stairs and a couple of meters more of walking (he doesnt look like he can do it, lets leave it at that lol). But I gave in anyway because when I refused, he looked at me like he's disappointed or something lmao (and i would not be able to bear it if he missed the exam because of me)
I was carried all the way until we got to an empty chair about in the middle of that lecture room. Of course I saw the stares, and my blockmates made a teasing sound in unison as soon as we walked in the room. The prof hushed them because the exam is already starting.
That night, I replayed that scene a thousand times and realized things:
1. When I got out of the lab room (i literally was the first person who got to the door lmao, i tried to get the exam done as quickly as i can for fear of collapsing if i try to stand any longer), i only saw him across the hallway and I sat down on that chair right next to the door as soon as I pushed the door open. And I did not say a pip about my pain. I thought that he could not have known I was in pain, unless he peeked through that window in the door (the size of one's face) and watched me while I was taking the exam and coincidentally saw me double over in pain everytime I stop in each station and struggling to walk to the next station.
2. He saw and knew what those actions mean or look like. He knew what period pain looks like.
3. He more likely let the prof know we will be a little late for the exam because im experiencing period pain. We were let in (the door was still open) even though the exam was already starting
4. He more likely bought all those things himself, including the napkin (it was the kind from vending machines)
5. I was in love 😂
#granted my Mr Yu tiptoes the line between genius and madness back and forth lmao#because the thing going on with his parents affected him whether he is conscious about it or not#it shaped or affected his view on love or what a healthy non toxic relationship between two people in love looks like#we will know if mr yu has something like that going on too lmao#not all the episode are aired yet#im sharing not because im jaded lmao#im sharing because there are people who seem to be so enamored about mr yu without realizing the other side of the coin#dont mind me#lol

OKAY SO I HAVE ENOUGH of seeing people saying "how can he (Mr Yu from Love Scout) be real??" Or "does a man like this exist at all?! lmao"

If Cloud almost killing Tifa in the rundown reactor isnt enough foreshadowing for you of how Aerith really died at the end of Rebirth, then I don't know what else to tell you.
#and even before that#there was an entire sequence that is highly suggestive of the idea that sephiroth possesed cloud to off those infantry men#cloud literally moved like sephiroth and went psycho on everyone and then almost killed tifa#like if that doesnt convince you that cloud possessed by sephiroth is how aerith died#what else should right?#that idea was also reiterated by the fact holding L2 and R2 brings down the sword on aerith#i really think that scene where we see cloud fighting for control over the players L2+R2 hold and then Sephiroth coming down to strike#is literally a depiction of cloud fighting sephiroths control of his mind#and losing that fight#which led to aeriths death#marlene from one of zacks cutscenes also alluded to this#the only reason tifa got away unscathed from cloud during that scene was that tifa managed to back away and then fell down out of his reach
