I think I had the best makeup purchase I ever did in my life. I never post about this stuff but I am so blown away that I just have to post about it. For posterity.

It's the Nomadic Glam collection by Florasis.

(I got this set for a lot less than the tag here and I bought the palette separately, total is less than 120 USD)

For the price of one holiday face palette from Hourglass, I got:

An all over the face palette with 7 shades (3 shimmer, 4 matte) that can be eye shadow, blush, highlighter, brow powder and an undereye corrector shade that works for me.

A cushion foundation with refill and extra puff.

A compact pressed powder.

A small compact cream blush (but if feels like a hybrid of cream and powder, if you ask me)

And a liquid satin lipstick

Wait, there's more. A hefty list of freebies:

A phone and lipstick holder (it's a small synthetic leather body bag)

A clip-on structured case for your cushion foundation or compact pressed powder

A medium tote bag made from thick cardboard that you can use as gift bag

A fragrance card

A number of sample sized products: oil cleanser (x2), gel cleanser, makeup remover wipes (x3), waterprooof sunscreen (10ml), a lip mask, pressed powder from a different line (in a tiny compact with tiny puff, perfect to bring with you for touch ups), and loose powder from a different line (in a tiny container with a tiny puff).

The only thing I did not get from the collection was their tinted pressed powder because I just did not have any good experience with this type of product on me. But now I regret not getting it. I missed a clutch bag and a small case for the cream blush as freebies too.

Great but what about the quality?

The branding or look and feel, and packaging of the products rival that of a high end brand. I think Florasis even did it better because I haven't seen any high end or luxury brand that does the same attention to detail type of packaging --- the products are embossed with art, it almost hurts me to use it -- except for Dior, maybe. Some would see Florasis as a high end brand because of their branding and packaging, but believe me when I say their price range is not that of a high end brand.

The standouts for me in this collection were:

the face palette, because the colorway is earthy tone but it does not look muddy on me (im olive skin toned). For someone who only ever uses stick eye shadows (one swipe and done), I was so pleasantly surprised that I can use all the shades and create different looks using just one brush. I should also mention that the shades might look intimidating on the pan but as long as you apply using a light hand, the colors are easy and intuitive to use (to me, who used to draw and color in my younger years). I can see myself using the palette everyday and thats huge coming from someone who never played with eye shadows even in special occasions.

the liquid satin lipstick, because the shade from this collection is in the exact same color of my lips. It sounds cheesy but I literally gasped in tiny when I swiped it on my lips. I love lip products since my teenage years and I have not seen a shade like this before. It is also worth mentioning that this product is a perfect dupe for Bobbi Brown's crushed lip color. The Florasis one is half the price but same quality (weightless, not drying, good longevity). I would actually say that the Florasis one stays on longer after drinking and eating because there's very little transfer.

It is also note worthy to mention that the highlighter shade from this pallette is the same exact shade from one of Hourglass palettes - ambient strobe lighting powder in supernova / warm gold shade. I have it and compared them and was floored how the same they are. Like I did swatches on the back of my hand and turned it about in different ways under different light because I cannot believe what I am seeing with my eyes. The only difference I noticed is that the Hourglass one sticks on your skin more than the Florasis one. By that I mean more product stays on the skin when you smudge it. The Florasis one diffuses, while the Hourglass one budges just a tiny bit.

Lastly, yes I have been using this entire set for 3 days straight now since it came because everything in here is for everyday use. Even if I'm just at home because I work from home, I have full makeup on because the whole set is so quick and easy to use (i have zoom meetings almost every day anyway so its justified lol)

The only gripes I have are:

The shade of the cushion foundation is too light on me (N25), and it was the deepest shade they have 🙃 I can make it work if I apply a very thin layer only. Other than that, the cushion has very good medium coverage and it sets quickly but does not settle on fine lines or crease.

The cream blush is so pigmented that I have yet to find the right amount to pick up with my brush so that it won't look too much on my cheeks lol First time, I used my finger and had to soften it with Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Dim Light. Second time, used a brush, I can barely see the product on the brush but it was still too much lmao. Good thing though is even if you got a bit heavy handed, it looks fine if you have eye makeup and lipstick on in the shades from this set (color theory and all that).

I am not sponsored nor am I an influencer. I just love all the products in this collection that I felt I got my money's worth with the quality of the products.

If I compare my high-end makeup purchases (to cite one, I have a collection of Hourglass ambient lighting powders and blushes), it felt like I could have spent that amount of money with a brand like Florasis, and get products that I can see myself using all of it, everyday. Or maybe, their Nomadic Glam collection is just a perfect match to my skin tone 😂

In a gaming scene dominated by retellings of Greek and Norse mythology and the endlessly reused Medieval aesthetic, Black Myth Wukong feels like a breath of fresh air, introducing bus loads of people in the West to a vast mythology the overwhelming majority of them have no point of contact with.

Is everyone who plays Wukong gonna read Journey to the West? Definitely not. But even if 0.5% of them did, that would still be thousands of people becoming familiar with one of the most influential stories in the Chinese literary corpus. Some of those people might go on to read Outlaws of the Marsh or any other wuxia novel, perhaps picking up little nuggets of Chinese cultural knowledge along the way.

These windows onto another culture create a thread of empathy that, I think, goes a long way toward getting people interested in the cultures they aren't a part of, and you can learn a lot about a group of people via the stories they tell. Their cultural norms, values and ways of being in the world are at least partially communicated via their popular fiction, and if a video game is the way people in my country can get interested in the stories and history of another culture, I'll take it!
