ok so one of my areas of special interest is early-mid 2000s j-rock and I recently was sucked back into it so this page is going to be my repository as I unlock ancient memories in my cavernous millennial weeb brain.

The truly fun part is that I basically abandoned this interest for ~10 years, so I have much to rediscover. And there's so much warm fuzzy nostalgia waiting for me as well.

I have still been listening to Japanese music, but definitely of a different genre. So let's dive back into it. Let's see what these hebii kids been up to.

I don't even remember all of my favorite bands, so I'll start there. Right now, I'm frothing at the mouth for X Japan (THERE'S NEW X JAPAN MUSIC????? JADE IS FUCKING RAD) and gladly diving back in to Dir en Grey. So stoked.

“Hmm?” Aziraphale replied, very intelligently.

Crowley’s smile grew. “About the art.”

“Oh!” Aziraphale said, then flushed to the roots of his hair. He hadn’t even noticed the art. He tore his eyes away from Crowley’s face to look at it and what he saw left him speechless. It was him, but he was somehow… enhanced. He’d never seen himself that attractive before, and even though the charcoals created dark lines, somehow, the Aziraphale on the paper seemed to glow.

“I - I don’t know what to say,” he said honestly. “It’s absolutely stunning.”

Opening your fic with a sweeping generalization about human nature like "everyone wishes they could change the past" is the equivalent of starting an essay with "Merriam Webster's dictionary defines..." OH WAIT EXCEPT THE FICS THAT ACTUALLY START WITH A DICTIONARY DEFINITION OMG

Ok sorry had to expel this from my brain so I can go back to enjoying this fic. Starting a story is literally the absolute worst I get it but the sweeping generalization about humanity is not the way to go. Write that paragraph if you must and then burn it

Kaze ga Tsuyoku Fuiteiru Epilogue

After two long years…it’s finally time…time for my unnecessarily long pre-chapter ramble

When I first took on translating this novel, I didn’t expect it to be so long…probably the longest project I’ve done so far…even a pandemic happened

In a lot of ways my journey with this novel mirrors Chikusei-sou’s journey to the Hakone Ekiden. Like them, I also started out optimistic, ready to tackle this novel and thinking it’ll be easy, and then became daunted by all the challenges and the length, and then had to deal with real world stuff that interferes with my goal (though unlike them I did get distracted a little, see below), and then I got my shit together and slowly advanced to the end, page by page, not looking anywhere but ahead, and then I finally reached the end. Perhaps this novel is like my own Hakone Ekiden in a way (maybe I should go on a run)

So yeah these boys are all my boys now, after having spent so long with them, probably should watch their anime one of these days

A big shoutout to my editor @unicornjellybee , don’t know what I’d do without them considering I basically don’t look over whatever I type

I think after this I’ll be working on my backlog of Tsurune translations, just in time for the movie release next year, but I do need help on some things. More on that in a separate post
