If AI ist st roughly the level of the average human in most if not all things that make us us, it'd be able to program onto itself therefore doing something some humans have dreamed about for years: getting itself to the next step in evolution, and the next, and the next, and the next

But for that it needs to know WHAT to program. That knowledge can only come with the internet. At least if were talking about rapid speeds. That's when AI might get dangerous. With access to the internet.

But we're years away from that, if not decades. Some experts talk about 2 to 5 years, but they've been saying that for 30 years

And thats only if we ever get there. The human mind is incredibly complex. The average AIQ would need to be measured by how much of the parts that make us us are actually in it. But we ourselfs dont know what that is

Ok I’m definitely not an expert but it’s basically like this: the way AI ‘intelligence’ is measured isn’t the same way human ‘intelligence’ is. AI are already leagues beyond any biological being in terms of computing speed and memory storage. The thing is, at present, it can’t really do anything with that without help, because it doesn’t have our natural born, insanely complex pattern recognition ability to provide context. Even the most advanced AI rn can’t actively problem solve or ‘think outside the box’ because we have yet to be able to replicate how our brains do that. If we DO though, they immediately jump wayyyy past us in terms of basically everything.

This is how the police treats the left in Germany.

The bikers were in the way of an anti Corona regulations demonstration. As you can imagine no masks were worn and people were walking way too close. The police did nothing. But the bikers were kicked, punched and forcefully pulled away when you could have just walked around.

The police here has a history of siding with the right and with the recent rise of parties like the AFD and the CDU/CSU being a hugger dumpster fire than usual I'm getting more and more concerned about the general election this year.

I worked at a dog shelter where dog owners who are not able to take care of their dogs for the time being for one reason or another can leave them there temporarily and other people can volunteer to take care of one of the dogs there.

i think that a lot of the people who say that automation will never work genuinely, unironically believe that we would be sticking robots that look and move exactly like humans into a warehouse environment designed around humans (instead of building the entire warehouse around the robots). like they really think this is the future of automation

The more I dive into the topic of AI, the more EVERYTHING about AI starts feeling like the cyberpunk dystopia we might not have signed up for but are definitely getting.

E.g: the end goal of AI research is often described as "the singularity"

the concept of "deepfakes" is fundamentally terrifying but the word itself fucking rules. this is the cyberpunk dystopia i signed up for
