Seeing generative AI in queer spaces is chilling for a lot of reasons. Not least among them being that it's an easy way to edge out queer creators who are already in a precarious position, facing book bans and attacks from all sides.

As a queer history resource, watching an AI try and fill the roll that has taken so long to carve out for actual people, is disheartening. It's great to know that there is demand for queer history resources, but after so many queer people have worked so hard to build a space for themselves, it feels disrespectful to watch that spot be filled by machines.

Queer people have won the battle in a way, convinced the world that our stories are worthwhile. I suppose it shouldn't be shocking to see that the response is to try and find a way to not compensate queer people for any of their work and value.

im sorry rad fems sold you the lie that butches are only Non Threatening (TM) cis women with short hair who wear T-shirts and jeans with a carabiner, but the reality of the situation is a lot of butches are trans, genderqueer, physically imposing, big, male impersonators, hairy (especially including facial hair), sweaty, muscular, "ugly" and/or fat. some butches are into extreme body modification. some went bald. some are body builders. some are transfem butches who don't wanna overperform womanhood, take estrogen, or medically transition. some butches start testosterone strictly to feel more like a butch. some butches pass as cis men, and some need to do so in order to feel like their butch selves. soft butches are great, but that's not the "One Right Way" to be butch. the butches i'm attracted to would make a rad fem scream and cry and piss themselves on the floor.

So I’m a trans woman, have been for a hot minute now, but super early in my transition, I was scared to use the women’s restroom (a classic dilemma, genuinly horrifying stuff, not fun game of dice) and becuase of that fear I like, hadn’t yet, I would just use the men’s room when no one was looking or there.

Anyway

I was having lunch, it was a day when I had concert performance later, and this girl friend of mine, let’s call her Amelia, just casually asked me “hey I’m going to the bathroom wanna come with?”

That was the first time using the women’s restroom, I told her this like, when we were both finished, and she was like “omg cute, we should take a picture” and I still have that mirror selfie to this day

that is legitimately such a kind gesture from her, i bet there's no way should could know just how much that meant to you. having a cis friend who is willing to go into your preferred restroom with you and protect you if things go sideways is so fucking good. i'm really glad she not only wanted to affirm your gender, but also protect and stand up for you! that's huge. that really warms my heart to hear. hell yeah, i'm really glad you have/had someone like that in your life!
