COVID is slowly becoming a "third world" disease. While first world countries are hoarding vaccines, having doses for populations many times their size, third world countries can't get any because pharma companies want to sell to the first world countries first. Even then, first world countries will receive them first. While rich countries recover from COVID, they will forget about the pandemic while many other countries live the absolute worst moment of the pandemic without being able to vaccinate their population.

hey please help me fix my tooth
recently an abscess formed in one of my molars and was very painful. it burst last night which got rid of some of the pain but i still need to get it fixed immediately. i went in for an emergency appointment at the dentist and the two options i have are 1) root canal and crown and 2) extract. obviously extraction is MUCH cheaper, but i really don’t want to lose a tooth this early in my life.
i don’t know how much the first option will be, but i know it’ll be over $1k, at the least. so i really need help. and i need this as soon as possible.
i’ve been struggling to find work due to mental health as well as some discriminatory practices due to me being openly transgender in a very conservative area. i’m still working very hard to find a job in the meantime.
i’m hoping i’m able to get enough money to at least get the root canal started and i can pay it off over time. so my paypal is right here: paypal.me/shamusiel
PLEASE DISREGARD MY DEADNAME THANK YOU
anything helps. please reblog this, likes don’t help at all, and you’re free to share it elsewhere, too.
edit: i was just informed the link that i copied and pasted to my paypal was screwed up so i went and fixed that now. if you’re reblogging a version with the old link just remove all the extra stuff after “shamusiel” in the url.

in light of the absolutely horrific news about Ma’Khia Bryant’s death at the hands of the Columbus PD i just wanted to take a moment to link Loveland, a nonprofit that provides therapy to black girls and women if people are looking for support or people are looking for somewhere to support right now

today is Yom Hashoah
on this day, I would like to commemorate the extensive Jewish resistance that existed in almost every Nazi-occupied nation. from the streets of Warsaw, where Jewish resistance perplexed and bewildered the Nazis so much that a top German general lost his job because of it (and where we inadvertently inspired the Warsaw Uprising) to Sobibor, where Jews killed SS guards and burned a death camp to the ground, enraging the Nazis so much that they ordered the camp’s remains bulldozed into the ground, to Treblinka, where Jews escaped through the barbed wire into freedom and managed to survive to meet the Red Army the next year.
Jews did not go passively into the gas chambers. Abba Kovner, Mordechai Anielewicz, the Bielski brothers, and many others ensured that.
the image will always live in my mind: during the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising, a Jewish man armed with a pistol approached General Jurgen Stroop’s command group and opened fire. Stroop’s bodyguard filled him with bullets, but he continued shooting until he collapsed. as Stroop walked over to gloat, he spat on Stroop’s shoes.
Jews have always fought for freedom.

today, 8th of april, is the international rromani day. today the rroma are still subjected to discrimination, marginalisation and segregation. discrimination is widespread in every field of public and personal life, including access to public places, education, employment, health services and housing. the rroma community is still not regarded as an ethnic or national minority group in every member state (in europe) and thus it does not enjoy the rights pertaining to this status in all the countries concerned.
bring awareness of this issue. this is a map with that reflects the size of the rroma population in each european country.
Some sites to donate money to help to better the life of rroma communities:
Secretariado Gitano (Spain)
Roma Edutional Fund (International)
European Roma Grassroots Organisations Network (International)
Roma support group (UK)
@oprerroma has a lot of resources and organisations on her bio where you can donate to.
Feel free to add your paypal, cashapp, etc to this post if you're rroma. Also if you know of local/national organisations that accept donations add them to this post as well.

the french senate has voted so that no girl below the age of 18 can wear hijab or niqab in public and that no hijab-wearing muslim mothers can accompany children on school field trips. furthermore, the french government is moving to ban halal slaughter of poultry by july 2021 on the grounds this method of slaughter has been deemed “less humane” than standard french practice.
primarily white “feminists” who otherwise advocate for bodily autonomy have either been silent or explicitly supported the first piece of legislation. here is a change.org petition created to oppose the hijab/niqab ban. as a reminder, when you go to sign, do not select the option to donate: none of the funds go to the cause. when you’re signing, use numbers from 75001 to 75021 (french zip codes) because international/fake zip codes will invalidate your signature (via zhongsliang on twitter).
i’ll be adding more information/links as i get them so please check the original post for the latest updates!
edit 1: if you’re using one of the above zip codes, enter paris when prompted for your city (via varonasdarling on twitter).
edit 2: here are two more petitions (1, 2); use the same instructions as above when signing.
edit 3: parisian zip codes only go up to 75020! do not use 75021.

Hey everyone! A friend is struggling with paying for safe housing without a co-signer. In order to qualify, they need to pay $4000 upfront. they are a 19 year-old working student who simply can’t afford to pay such a ridiculous amount, but this is their only option without a co-signer. I have tried to help out financially but I’m only one person. It would mean a lot to me if you could help!! Show swaay they have a community who loves them!!!

hi y’all–
if you don’t already know (and i haven’t seen any major news coverage), indigenous land defenders have been protesting Trump’s visit to Mount Rushmore. at least 12 were arrested yesterday (3 July) and a number of their cars and trucks were impounded.
the land that’s been carved into, called the Black Hills or, in Lakota, Pahá Sápa, is sacred to a number of indigenous peoples, particularly the Lakota, from whom the land was stolen originally. the faces engraved on this ancestral land belong to presidents with documented histories of white supremacism–and the carving itself was done by a member of the KKK.
learn more + donate to the black hills legal defense fund HERE
video coverage via Indigenous Rising HERE
Layli Long Soldier’s poems on “Ȟe Sápa” are good reading on the Black Hills
there are many places to learn about the actions of Roosevelt, Washington, Jefferson, and Lincoln, but for Lincoln in particular (who I think still often gets taught as a white savior), I’d also recommend Long Soldier’s “38″ and LeAnne Howe’s Savage Conversations.
you can also donate to the Lakota Law Project HERE.

“Hello, my name is Sharlene Pike and I am a black transgender person originating from South Africa and working as a receptionist/host. I moved to the United States 4 years ago alone and without any support, as my parents died in my home country when I was 18. Being a transgender black female immigrant places three discrimination barriers and makes it extremely hard to socialize and find a job to live properly. Nevertheless, I tried my best. I had been working at 7 different companies as a receptionist/host/waitress for these four years, but 2 months ago I lost my job. The reasoning I was given - ‘staff reduction due to COVID-19 complications’. I have been unemployed for these 2 months, but the reason I can’t start a new job is not COVID-19. In February, I was diagnosed with stage-3 esophageal cancer. I had no prior knowledge of my diagnosis as this type of cancer can be quite concealed, and I had only two or three weeks of eating discomfort before I had a medical consultation. The company I was working at had a special program to support staff members who need expensive surgeries or therapies, and I believe my diagnosis was the true reason I was reduced, since it happened just after I told my office I might need an extended medical leave. The sum I have spent on the medical procedures only to clarify the future treatment equals my 3 salaries. The sum I’m asking for is actually covering first 6 months of treatment and the cheapest drug - basically simply to have a chance to survive. I have no health insurance and I can’t take a new job because my health condition significantly deteriorated. The thing that I have learnt throughout these months is that it is very hard to get any, even basic medical help if you are transgender. The death rate of the esophageal cancer is about 30%, which is very high, and I ask you to help me to have a chance to survive. I tried to deal with everything without anyone by my side, but current circumstances left me with no choice but to ask you to donate and share my story. Thank you very much.”
this gofundme was started on june 19th, 2020 and as of june 30th, 2020 she still needs donations! i’ll reblog with the donation link in one moment.
