Some mornings Jongin wakes up to find his bed not quite as empty as it was when he went to sleep the previous night, a smaller body curled up against his side. On mornings like this, Jongin smiles a sleepy smile and wraps an arm around the body, pulling it closer and burying his face in the latter’s hair. Content washes over him like waves upon a shore, and he falls back asleep with thoughts of Kyungsoo’s home.

It’s when mornings like this happen that Jongin is at his happiest. He gets to watch as Kyungsoo wakes up, gets to wipe sleep clear away from the older’s eyes with a press of lips against his. He gets to lazily thread his fingers through the older’s and remind himself that he remembers exactly how many shades darker his skin is in comparison to Kyungsoo’s. It’s times like this that Jongin feels in love.

Other mornings Jongin wakes up and finds his bed emptier than it was when he fell asleep, and cold sheets greet the palm he runs over the spot Kyungsoo’s supposed to be occupying. Baekhyun tells him he should worry when this happens, and Sehun tells him he’s an idiot for letting it happen. But Jongin ignores them both because this is Kyungsoo, after all - and just like how blood has to come back to the heart, one way or another, Jongin knows Kyungsoo will always come back to him, some day.

Kyungsoo comes and goes, but Jongin will always wait for him.
