I visited friends on the West Coast for the past two weeks — this was when I was with a family in Conconully, WA. We went chasing northern lights and came back with a ton of photos of the Milky Way. The moon rose over the horizon and gave us just enough light for this photo.

****Elvis is in the Building****
Last weekend Rick Andrade (FB Page), a friend I met from when I volunteered at SkillsUSA Massachusetts, came into the studio for a publicity photo session. He's a talented singer specializing in Portuguese songs, he's a DJ, and he's a great Elvis Presley tribute artist. We spent a couple hours taking photos of him in different poses and six different Elvis costumes, including some of him in Elvis's "Aloha Suit," which he wore at the "Aloha from Hawaii" concert in 1973. It was a lot of fun and we were joking around that we were having a "lifetime" photoshoot - we went through Elvis's career during the 3.5 hour-long shoot.
I learned a great deal about the King, and really enjoyed playing through some of his most famous songs from his entire discography as Rick explained which costumes went with which eras or albums. The ones depicted in this sneak peek are, from top to bottom, his early years (1950's), "G.I. Blue" (1960), and his first worldwide satellite broadcast, "Aloha From Hawaii" (1973).
This week is Elvis week, celebrating the legend's life and music, which lives on after his passing 37 years ago today.

Countdown to Boston Calling - Check out my friends @ CliffLight. Their songs are catchy and will get you dancing in no time - all of them are on my studio's photo session playlist. They're even better live!
( <shameless plug>... and check out that awesome photo on that page! I took that when they performed at the Paradise Rock Club.</shameless plug>)

We recently had the opportunity to work with Chris Coté, a talented musician who’s a singer, ukulelist, and trumpeter on a portraits session. His family owns a famous institution in New Hampshire - Polly’s Pancake Parlor - and we are grateful to have permission to shoot at such a great place after hours. What a wonderful day: Great weather, awesome music, and a beautiful location. Here’s a sneak peek from the session!
Chris and his music can be found on SoundCloud as SuperChris.
P.S. My family and I have been coming here for breakfast regularly and yearly since 1989, with the exception of 2008 when my dad passed away. It just dawned on me that this family tradition has gone on for 25 years.

I am humbled by the many people who stopped by my studio space over the weekend during Somerville Open Studios, especially the ones who told me that they specifically came to Mad Oyster to see my work after viewing my piece at the Somerville Museum. Special thanks to one of my visitors (pictured in the last photo) who brought us these concentrated chocolate "Brownie bombs" that were absolutely delicious, and had just the right amount of everything to keep us going for the rest of the day.
I hope everyone had a great weekend checking out all sorts of artists this year's Somerville Open Studios. It was awesome to meet so many great people and friends! Thanks to the organizers of Somerville Open Studios and Mad Oyster Studios for keeping things running smoothly and fun.
Some prints sold quickly, exceeding my wildest expectations (and inventory.) If you missed a print you were looking for, especially of the Lantern, the Island Palace, and the Red Maple, you can place an order for them by contacting me via Facebook, via email at [email protected], or via phone at (781) 333-8238. More prints are available on my website, along with Pricing information.
Thanks again, and I'm looking forward to next year's Somerville Open Studios.
