Occasionally NSFW so minors DNI. My main blog is widthofmytongue.tumblr.com; this is my pop culture cache (but it's also a hard ☭ leftist ☭ blog, and if you've got right-leaning or even right-sympathetic or centrist views, you're my enemy and I want you to begone and never return).

For Christmas this year, I got a Jurassic Park Velociraptor toy, and even though it’s now a few days past Christmas, I decided to make this stopmotion video because I couldn’t stop laughing at the idea. Enjoy!
Animated with Stop Motion Studio Pro app on my iPad.

I was thinking about how ‘Grinch’ and ‘Scrooge’ are words for people who hate Christmas but aren’t exact synonyms and then this chart happened.

(the rest of this ask is in this pastebin link, it was too long for tumblr. if you do respond to this put it in the text of your response so people can read it more easily)

in the original story? the grinch lives in solitude, alone, presumably due to its monstrosity. we all know the story, the grinch goes and dresses up as santa, steals christmas, has a change of heart and is accepted. but the grinch exists in many more stories than the original. the grinch in popular consciousness still exists as a symbol of negativity and hatred despite her changing at the end of the film. she’s always remembered for her lowest moments, and will never be able to get rid of how she’s seen. she’s a symbol of repugnance. you can see these themes in other grinch media too. the wizards with guns grinch video makes me feel, just because it taps into those themes. the grinch has a whole song about how much she sucks! with increasingly outlandish statements! it’s like fucking callout post harassment style shit! they doxx her! and they relish in it! and it’s just so refreshing to see people acknowledge this, that the grinch *is actually* a good person. the back half of that video might actually have made me cry if i was able to. the place i see it most though, is grinch’s ultimatum. a person has a moment of anger, and is then confronted by a traditionally masculine (!) icon of permanent joy: santa. they are then given a choice: be a saint, or a grinch. (i take “be a saint” here to mean “don’t express anger”.) they choose to be a grinch, and ask “am i truly a monster?” does anger make you a monster? does choosing to not put up a front make you a monster? but she accepts herself. she goes out and dances. i feel crazy talking about it but i relate to the grinch a lot.
i...... i cant argue with this?
