Hunter: I think Darius wants to adopt me, officially I mean.

Luz: That's great!

Luz [before Hunter can say anything]:.......

Luz: I mean, it's great right? For you I mean? I'm not like jumping the gun or anything here because you are only telling me this because actually don't want to be adopted cuz that would def be understandable too dude. Well not totally understandable cuz not gonna lie I'd be side-eying Darius---

Hunter: Luz! Luz it's a good thing! I'm happy, calm down.

Luz [chuckling nervously]: That's good. Yeah, sorry about that. I tend to, you know *knocks on her forehead playfully* overthink things.

Hunter [smiling ruefully]: It's cool. I just wanted to let you know because *fidgets* you're my friend and sister and stuff and---

Luz: *throws her arms around him*

Luz: I'm so happy for you!

Hunter [hugging her back]: Yeah?

Luz [tearing up]: Definitely

Hunter [....]: Do you know what you're doing?

Darius [hovering over his hair with a scissor]: Of course. Do you doubt me?

Hunter: No!

Hunter: Maybe?

Hunter: Kinda.

Hunter: Yes.

Darius: Unbelievable

Hunter: What, you're a clothes designer Darius, not a hairstylist.

Darius: I dabble!

Hunter [blurting out]: With what hair?

Darius [....]: Excuse me?

Hunter: Um, never mind. Just do it. It's not like I haven't done worse to it.

Darius: Wow kid, the confidence in me is truly touching.

Hunter: *dialing Willow for later repairs*

Hunter [distractedly]: Yeah you welcome

Darius: *sigh* You're lucky I love you

Darius didn't know how to help the kid but help him he would. So with a grim frown pulling at his brows, he walked into what he'd always assumed to be the precious favored boy's room and threw himself in the desk chair to wait.

It was so painfully obvious the kid was not doing well and Emperor Belos was doing something to him so yeah golden guard or not, Darius wasn't just going to sit by and let whatever was happening continue another day longer.

"Darius?! What are you doing here?"

He threw a bag at him in answer. And in response the kid fumbled around awkwardly letting out a startled yelp trying to get a good grip on it.

"You and I are getting the hell out of this place kiddo, so start packing," Darius said, standing up and crossing his arms. "You have ten minutes."

Hunter: Sir do you need anything?

GG: I'm so sorry!

Hunter [slowly backing away]: Um...don't worry about it?

Darius: He said he was sorry damn it! Now come live with us!

Hunter: What?

GG: What?

But like imagine Hunter going back in time by accident to the time Darius's Golden Guard was alive and Hunter tries not to be noticed by them but GG does notice him but comes to the wrong conclusion that Hunter is his child from a one night stand and he's freaking out and panicking wondering how he's going to fix this and Darius tries to help by endearing themselves to the kid via giving him biscuits and head pats because he want to help his mentor damn it and the kid looks like he need all the comfort in the world.

Hunter [peaking his head out]: Me and Eber made a pillowfort! It's a human thing that humans do to have fun! I couldn't wrap my head around why since it's just bunch of pillows and blankets in the living room but strangely, I feel happy! Luz was right! Pillowforts are fun!

Eberwolf: Join us?

Darius [crossing his arms with a smile]: Why not.

Hunter: Eber! Eber I need your help!

Eberwolf: What?

Hunter [slaps a paper in front of him]: I need you to sign off on my overnight camping trip.

Eberwolf:.......

Eberwolf: Darius?

Hunter [shrugging]: Not here. And you know how he gets about camping. All the dirt. He'll never approve. Pleaaaase uncle!

Eberwolf: *stares*

Eberwolf: Let me think about it.

Hunter: Oh, okay.

Eberwolf: *turns walks away*

Eberwolf: *has a mental break down as soon as he's out of sight*

Eberwolf: 'He sees me as family......I'm...family'

But like imagine Darius coming home to Hunter trying to sew himself up after an accidental implement and the kid is just blabbing about bleach and how to get the blood stains out of the sofa. And when he spots Darius freaking out, he reassures him he didn't get anything on the really nice carpet they bought last week because he made sure to cover it with plastic sheets because "I knew the sofa was a last cause since I stumbled into it but I would neeeever stain your new carpet Darius. And even the sofa, going by the material is made out of, I'm sure I can clean it all off too, trust me." And Darius just crumbles. His poor baby. How was he going to teach him to value his own life!

Hunter crashing with Luz every so often to catch up and ending up walking with her to school sometimes and eventually accidentally becoming a regular fixture in the back of her classes learning all kinds of crazy human history/inventions which he eagerly shares with Gus afterwards.

Luz: I think my mom is trying to adopt your dad.

Hunter: I think my dad already thinks he's adopted your mom.

Hunter:.......

Darius:.......

Hunter:........

Darius:........

Hunter: Oh for---- I'm not going there permanently Darius! I'm staying here, with you. So could you please quit pouting!

Darius [pouting]: I'm not pouting. I'm just worried that if you go visit the human girl and her family and then something happens; like it always does, you'll end up stuck there and at first you might miss this place. Me and Eberwolf but eventually you'll feel okay sticking around the humans and when the opportunity comes to get backyou'llchoosetostay.

Hunter:.......

Hunter: Dad, you need therapy.

Darius:.........

Darius: Fair enough.

Hunter [bursting in through the doors]: You signed me up for school! *waves a piece of paper around frantically while tearing up*

Darius:......

Eberwolf:......

Darius [stands up slowly, sharing glances with Eberwolf]: I didn't know it would bother you this much? Perhaps I should have talked it over with you. You just seemed so excited about the thought of----

Hunter: No! No, I want to go to school! I love school. It's where all my friends are! That's not the problem!!!!

Darius:.... Now I'm just confused.

Hunter [wave paper around even more]: You signed me up as Hunter Deamonne!!! Deamonne!!!!! I have a dad now! *rubs furiously at his eye* I have a dad now and I don't know what to do with myself!

Darius:.......

Darius: *ruffles his hair*

Hunter: *sobs hysterically and throws his arms around him*

Darius: *silently panicking while also trying to be comforting*

Eberwolf: *face palm*

Hunter: *drags Eberwolf into the hug too*

Eberwolf:.......

Eberwolf: 'oh'

He ruffles his hair. He ruffles his hair because while he isn't very good at saying 'I was worried about you! God kid, what if you'd died! I could have lost you' (yet) by ruffling Hunter's hair he allows himself the physical comfort of knowing he's safe and here and if that small gesture of comfort makes Hunter smile bashfully well, that's just an added bonus.

When it's all said and done and the kiddos have won I can just see Darius being so conflicted about Hunter. Both desperately wanting to adopt him and also convincing himself that maybe he's better off with Camila in the human world. And everyone witnessing him tie himself in knots trying and failing to be supportive of what he thinks Hunter wants while (lowkey also being snappy with Camila out of jealousy which only leads to Hunter being mad at him) until finally Hunter lashes out and screams that he knows Darius doesn't want him but can he please try not to alienate those that do?! Safe to say they finally have a long overdue conversation and Darius softly admits to Hunter that there is nothing in this world, nothing, that he wants more than for Hunter to come stay with him so they can be a family which makes Hunter burst into tears of overwhelming relief.

God I need to watch the new season soon. Like wtf. Why is life so hectic. I need my Darius and Hunter moments like I need to breaaaaathe
