Tired? “You damn right I’m tired of saying it,” Maya snapped at him. “Yeah, you killed people-like our parents, you bastard!” she hollered at him. “You want me to get over it? Over what? The fact that you were once the sweetest boy ever that I called my brother? Or the fact that you’re just like the rest of-” she didn’t dare finish the statement-she was so angry at him that she could slap him across the face-which she did.

He felt something deep within, he didn’t understand what it was but he felt a little twinge of something when she spoke.. but he chose to ignore it completely. “What is your problem?” he drawled. “They’ve been dead for years -- and they should have died in Summerdale anyway. Maybe it was just fate catching up to them.”

“Oh please baby vamp.” he replied with a roll of his eyes, “I’d tear you apart without even blinking.”

It seemed his fear was turned off too along with his humanity because Nick’s threat did nothing to him. “Is that so?” he deadpanned. “I am shaking in fear. Either you can keep come up with more creative threats.. or we can get to the bar and get something to drink?”

Alex had let her mind wander and she wasn’t paying much attention when she stumbled across Hugo with a confused expression she was even more schocked by the words out of his mouth. “Woah,” she muttered with a small frown. “What’s going on Hugo?” Alex asked softly, her head falling to the side as she stared at him trying to work out what was going on with her friend.

“You’re so cute. I can almost hear the wheels in your brain whirring, trying to figure out what’s going on with me.” he scoffed. “If you must know, I turned it off. And honestly, I have no idea why I didn’t do this before. I feel.. great. I don’t think I’ve ever felt this free before.”

Harlow watched as the younger vampire bared his fangs, her expression never changing before she sighed. “You’re making a mess. It’s juvenile.” She moved forward, taking a handkerchief from her purse and handing it over. “And you missed a few spots. All that for a blood bag?” She could only wonder how much of a mess he’d been if he were drinking from the source. 

"Since when are you my mom?” he rolled his eyes, not taking the handkerchief from her, instead simply using his sleeve again to clean himself up. “How much of a clean freak are you? And such a judgey one at that.”

The words that came out of his mouth surprised her. Her sweet Hugo, the boy who loved animals and was so kind was now gone. It was replaced by someone she didn’t even know and now didn’t want to know. “What happened?” was the only thing Mina could ask, the old fear slipping over her like a familiar jacket. 

“What happened to what?” Hugo said looking at the woman warily. He stepped past the bloody mess he had made and towards her. Mina was someone he had always cared for, but that part of him had disappeared into nothing and right then, all he wondered was if the woman was going to lecture him on being good. “Try being a little more specific.”

“A woman is dead! And I’m not letting you get away with it.”

"Shut the fuck up.” Hugo growled at the old woman. He had just been walking past when she had begun to yell and at his words, it made her louder -- and Hugo didn’t wait, instead going straight for her throat and within seconds, she had fallen to the ground. “My head hurts from her yelling. I’m on the way to get a coffee there.” He told the redhead like as though nothing out of the ordinary had happened. He wiped his mouth on his sleeve and smiled at her. “Come with me.” 

Sam watched enough movies to know, that the best and only way to adapt to a new place, was to simply walk it out, and familiarise with everything. Though after walking for two hours, she was already feeling tired and parched too. “I am not thanking these stupid rom coms right now.” She muttered under her breath as she found herself being lost and with her phone out of battery. Lucky she spotted an old woman and ran up to her quickly. “Hey, can you tell me how to get to the society cafe?” She asked, but it only resulted in the woman shouting at her. “How dare you ask me? Everything is changing in this town! And it’s all your fault! You might as well burn at the stake!” Sam simply stood there, in shock not sure what to do. “Uhm…?”

“I’m staring at you-” Maya snapped before she realized that it was her brother she was snapping out-and just like her premonition. Just like that night. She took a step back, tears filling her eyes, seeing her brother for what he truly was. “You monster,” she whispered with tears falling down her face. “You’re not my brother…”

He let out a deep sigh and stared at his sister exasperatedly. “Aren’t you tired of saying this? Because I’m sure as hell tired of hearing you say it.” Hugo rolled his eyes. “Yeah, I am a vampire and I’ve killed people. Get over it for fuck’s sake.”
